Operations Role Description:
This is a Director role within SSBO Risk, acting as a key member of the North American team supporting SSBO silos. The role includes acting as the Risk Manager for a number of co-located silos, and input into the Testing and Assurance, and Central Programs streams on behalf of SSBO.
The oversight of risk functions on behalf of SSBO is imperative to the smooth running of the organization, providing transparency into the risk environment through accurate reporting and system hygiene; central coordination and expertise in large scale programs; and testing and analysis to proactively identify any underlying risks, particularly during considerable change events (regulatory landscape, deployments etc.).
Operational Risk Management:
As a Risk Manager for several Shared Services silos, you will have the following responsibilities:
• Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the risk management toolkit across Global Operations
• Propose and lead Risk Management process, participating in Working Groups to shape risk initiatives
• Build and manage key stakeholder relationships on a day to day level
• Coordinate / track Action Plans to ensure quality and timeliness of delivery (including but not exclusive to Open Pages)
• Leverage the risk toolkit to undertake proactive analysis of systems and processes in order to identify and mitigate risk
• Validate the risk reporting production by SSBO Mumbai Risk Team for line area to ensure risk reporting and mitigation
• Drive enhancements and best practice standards in submission and reporting quality
• Provide oversight on identified risks and remediation required
• Manage changes and implementation of regulatory reports. Provide oversight during the RRM Workshops and review Reg Reporting RCSA
• Manage the independent monitoring and quality assurance of key processes, including select high impact functions
• Partner with SSBO Mumbai Risk Team and line management to ensure incident reporting is meeting firm reporting standards
• Validate incident post mortems and reporting in quality assurance checks, including review of taxonomy selection and root cause versus RCSA
Central Program Management:
As a risk lead for SSBO, you may be required to coordinate central programs on behalf of the organization. Such duties will include:
• Supervise SSBO input and output to ORRC programs (e.g RCSA, Entitlement Reviews, Business Continuity, Policies and Procedures, Independent Monitoring) in support of the ORRC book of work
• Supervise SSBO input and output to Audit programs (e.g Internal Audit, External Audit, Federal Program)
• Support the demands of regulatory audits and ad hoc queries
Testing and Analysis Agenda:
Testing and Analysis is a key part of the SSBO Risk value proposition. In supporting the program, you will have the following responsibilities:
• Proactively identify potential risk areas for further scrutiny
• Manage testing team to complete department/internal reviews and testing
• Support the testing program to ensure due diligence and reporting completed as required

Qualifications
• An undergraduate degree in business, finance or other related fields
• Business, Accounting or Finance related postgraduate degree desired
• Prior experience requiring knowledge of US Banking regulations with experience on Morgan Stanley Products, and familiar with the Firms Risk Framework.
• Demonstrated independence in evaluating and ensuring risks are identified and corrected.
Five to ten years of operations experience, with at least three years risk experience in a broker dealer and commercial bank setting.
• Significant experience with operational risk disciplines; processes, risks and controls and familiarity with accounting systems/processes.
• Strong leadership, and project management skills and ability to manage many competing priorities.
• Highly motivated individual with an outstanding record of professional achievement and execution.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
