Responsibilities
The Marketing Analytics & Planning Manager provides leadership and subject matter expertise in the planning and campaign optimization efforts to lead efficient ROI in a performance marketing team. This individual will champion our testing, marketing attribution and optimization programs including A/B & multivariate testing, marketing mix modeling, marketing attribution, and creative testing to take lead experience optimization and personalization for customer touchpoints. The Performance Marketing team is responsible for providing high-quality analytical work in a fast-paced and fluid environment. The team drives integrated planning efforts across Express that achieve campaign objectives, create a strong customer experience, and drive incremental sales for the business.
Individuals on this team:
• Understand data needs that need to be sourced from internal teams such as Sales, Financials, Promotion information, Operations etc. as well as external sources such as Nielsen and agency partners to provide business performance reporting
• Be the knowledge expert with understanding of all marketing campaigns and other strategic initiatives for Express and an essential understanding of their goals and objectives. Guide the Express work to measure these objectives, take learnings from this exercise, socialize and help implement them across the omni-channel team
• Lead test preparation and optimization for stores & marketing campaigns
• Analyze store/customer marketing campaign performance and make recommendations
• Prepare internal hypothesis, review model results, raise appropriate flags, help in insight generation and socialize model results to business leaders
• Strong stakeholder management with internal clients being marketing, analytics, finance, merchandise planning and allocation, store operations and eCommerce along with external clients involving the Express modeling team and agencies for data collection and activation
• Basic understanding of Multi Touch Attribution – being able to articulate the methodology and educate as the first line of defense with internal and external (agency) stakeholders
• As needed, execute both strategic and tactical simulations and optimizations using web based tools, combining knowledge of models and analytics with media realities and Express objectives to drive activation of ROI program
The manager leads a team of employees and will work closely with external vendors as well as partners in other areas of Marketing, and across the business to ensure that programs and initiatives are well planned and results communicated in a timely manner. The manager provides training and guidance to less experience analysts as well as works with team to set and achieve department objectives. Clearly define project deliverables, timelines, and dependences for team members and internal partners.
Essential Requirements
• Education:
◦ Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field of study or Marketing with equivalent quantitative work experience, master’s degree preferred.
• Experience:
◦ Typically requires minimum of 7+ years work experience, 3+ years managing others and leading cross-functional teams
◦ 3-5+ years in an analytics role; experience with campaign/store planning, test design and marketing mix / multi-touch attribution tools a plus
◦ Five plus years of retail experience preferred
• Tools:
◦ Usage of analytics/testing tools such as APT, Adobe Analytics, Microstrategy, etc.
◦ Familiar with programming languages such as SQL & Tableau
◦ Strong knowledge of Excel including pivot tables, vlookups, etc.
◦ Capable with other Microsoft Office products
