The company designs and sells its own exclusive line of apparel in a full range of sizes, and carries a unique assortment of fashion and home decor from over a hundred independent designers.
We are looking for a Lead Copywriter to join our growing team in Los Angeles! A Lead Copywriter oversees copy for all marketing materials, promotions, product and tech features, interface and navigational language, and other content throughout ModCloth experience. They partner with members of graphic design, marketing, advertising, merchandising and product to ensure that useful, usable, and on-brand copy is utilized in all outward-facing initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be an exceptional writer, highly knowledgeable of a diverse knowledge set of grammar and punctuation rules. They will also excel at managing, mentoring and distributing work tasks. A strong knowledge of and appreciation for the ModCloth brand is essential, as well as the ability to interest and excite the ModCloth customer with fresh and innovative copy. The ability to effectively and enthusiastically collaborate with multiple ModCloth teams is paramount.
What you'll do...
• Ensure consistency and cohesiveness in ModCloth’s overall voice and tone, as well as setting and upholding ModCloth’s copywriting standards and guidelines
• Collaborate on campaign direction and ideation with the Director of Brand Marketing and Senior Director, Creative
• Write, edit and contribute to the strategy of all newsletters/emails, advertisements (including banner ads, affiliate newsletters, paid social, SEO, etc.), sales and promotions, homepage assets, site assets, landing page copy, and special site experiences
• Plan and manage monthly editorial calendar
• Ideate and execute (i.e. project managing) blog content that supports monthly merchandising stories and key buys, as well as the ModCloth lifestyle
• Work with cross-functional teams to support their initiatives, and provide opportunity for their team members to build and grow skills as contributors
• Oversee adherence to brand voice, tone and guidelines
• Assist with writing/editing when needed
• Make final calls on questionable names/sensitive topics
You have...
• 6-8 years experience working with consumer brands
• 2+ years lead/management experience
• Understanding of and familiarity with the ModCloth brand
• Creative and innovative thinking skills
• Ability to develop and institute policy, strategy, and test plans
• Understanding of marketing fundamentals and strategy
• Ability to both work independently and be a supportive team player and leader
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Unwavering deadline-driven disposition
• Ability to self-motivate and track various projects at once
• BA in English, Communications, Journalism or equivalent
