MISSION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Category Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the development of category management & shopper insight efforts for their assigned category, resulting in achievement of category driving initiatives & contribution to Consumer Beauty division sales objective. The Category Manager supports internal Customer & Trade Marketing functions, Marketing and retailer-based teams by providing category and shopper insights that elevate partnerships and which result in increased sales for the category and for Coty.
• Provide detailed analysis and insights that will earn Coty the reputation among retailers of being a category strategy thought leader and shopper expert among Beauty companies
• Develop category strategies based on shopper insights and trends to drive category and market share growth and partner with cross-functional teams to drive execution.
• Develop fact based selling stories leveraging syndicated data sources and all available resources to support growth (inclusive of category dynamics, assortment opportunities and optimization)
• Act as Internal Liaison with multiple cross-functional partners (Customer & Trade Marketing, Wall Strategy, Marketing and Field Category Management) to share Category Management news & insights as it impacts business performance
• As directed, work on broader projects that will support the sales department, category management, and category specific objectives
• Actively and collaboratively participate and lead (depending on topic) meetings internally and with customers
• Drive continuous improvement of team’s current methods, approaches and capabilities adapting with changing business needs to achieve more efficient and better insights.
• Develop best practices and cascade with other team members
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• 4 year degree, plus an MBA preferred
• 5+ years prior experience in consumer package goods sales environment, including category management (centralized or field-based), sales, marketing, shopper or consumer insights, or working with syndicated data supplier. Exceptional computer skills, including extensive experience in Excel and PowerPoint are needed. Microsoft Office expertise and prior use of IRI, Nielsen and/or Spectra software required.

• Must possess excellent analytical, interpretive, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team
• Strong presentation skills (both written and in person); must be able to engage a room.
• Thrives in a dynamic & fast paced environment. Adapts quickly in a dynamic organization managing multiple stakeholder needs and evolving priorities. Succeeds in ambiguous situations.
• Demonstrates and effectively applies consumer industry and cross-category knowledge and expertise
• Serves as liaison between customer, team counterparts and internal support team members to foster a culture of growth and collaboration
• Ability to use data and analytics to both drive company strategy and execute strategic objectives of category groups
