Responsibilities
ROLE
The Director of Accounting will be responsible for the full-cycle General Ledger Accounting function, including the maintenance and reconciliation of accurate balance sheet accounts, as well as application of Cost Accounting policies and procedures while maintaining accuracy of inventory in the stock ledger and data integrity of inventory transactions. The Directory of Accounting will act as the accounting and inventory subject matter expert for cross-functional initiatives and IT projects, as well as work directly the Executive Financial team on financial statements, valuations and company audits.
Duties:
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close of Company’s accounting systems and records, and ensure the close delivers accurate financial results including comprehensive analysis of key expense and balance sheet items.
• Manage General Ledger and Inventory Accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate recording of all company transactions, and that inventory systems are in balance and transaction sets are complete.
• Research and provide consultation on all new accounting pronouncements and relevant GAAP issues and how they strategically impact the company
• Ensures appropriate inventory valuation and costing of all products in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies.
• Responsible for journal entries, complex balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis in accordance with GAAP guidelines.
• Solid understanding of ERP systems, including the development, implementation and/or maintenance of accounting systems.
• Use broad knowledge of accounting concepts, wide ranging experience, superior analytical skills and knowledge of industry standards to review issues and develop standards.
Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications:
• 7+ years of related Accounting/Finance experience preferably in a retail/manufacturing environment of equivalent size of business
• Solid technical financial/accounting knowledge as well as operational/inventory management or control in a retail or distribution environment
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• CPA Preferred
• Experience with ERP systems and inventory stock ledger/WMS systems
• Demonstrated leadership in managing accounting and/or inventory accounting and control functions
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast paced environment
