About the Team
The Stitch Fix Communications team is charged with bringing the story of Stitch Fix to life for all our audiences, from consumers to business press and investors to our own employees. We tell important, inspiring stories about our industry, our company, our leaders, and our clients—and we have fun doing it. We work closely with our executives; our marketing, merchandising, and data science counterparts; and our investor relations team to make corporate announcements, launch new products, tell brand stories, and manage internal communications. From media relations and speaking opportunities to All Hands meetings, we serve as Stitch Fix’s chief evangelists and storytellers. We’re a small but mighty team that is highly cross-functional, creative, driven, and motivated by challenge. We are looking for someone with the desire to learn and succeed in the PR field, and the drive to be a comms leader one day. Think you may be the perfect fit? Read on!
About the Role
As our PR Associate, you will be the critical piece that helps our team fire on all cylinders. In addition to overseeing the operations of the team (tracking and reporting, vendor relationships, briefing docs, updating the Newsroom and our master media list, etc.) you’ll also have the opportunity to be the first point of contact for reactive press inquiries and speaking requests, and apply your creative style to the world of Stitch Fix comms. Reporting to the Director of Corporate and Internal Communications, you will work cross-functionally with comms team members in charge of Tech, Consumer, and the UK, and have a comprehensive view of our communications strategy and activities.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
• Be on the front lines of all incoming or reactive press inquiries with an appropriate sense of urgency and sound judgement
• Produce and maintain the nuts and bolts of communications operations, including: drafting coverage reports & campaign summaries; updating our Newsroom, master media list, and FAQs; overseeing vendor relationships; maintaining our internal-facing Comms Hub, etc.
• Draft press releases, briefing docs, presentations, speeches, award submissions and other written materials.
• Provide logistical support for complex communications activities and both external and internal speaking engagements.
• Assist with various internal communications initiatives, including All Hands meetings and Internal News.
• Enjoy thinking creatively and analytically, and be energized by diving into PR metrics and surfacing insights around what moves the needle for Stitch Fix.
• Work across the business to discover, curate and share compelling stories about our company, our product, our technology, and our people.
• Partner with colleagues to pitch stories to a broad range of media.
• Identify opportunities to amplify content and news across various channels and outlets, as well as keep your finger on the pulse of industry and competitor news.
• Build relationships with leaders and partners across the company, especially within marketing, merchandising, styling, and data science.
We’re excited about you because…
• You have 3-5 years of agency or in-house PR experience (ideally corporate, tech, or retail).
• You’re a resourceful and creative storyteller who understands the elements of a good pitch.
• You are familiar with PR systems such as Cision, PR Newswire, and AIrPR. Photoshop experience is a plus.
• You are equal parts creative and analytical, and are just as comfortable building beautiful, on-brand slides as you are diving into metrics and pulling coverage reports.
• You are highly organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented.
• You possess outstanding work ethic, the ability to perform under pressure and within ambiguity, and prioritize and deliver short- and long-term projects.
• You are a good partner to others, intellectually curious, and open to feedback.
• You love Stitch Fix and believe in our service, our culture, and our mission.
Why you'll love working at Stitch Fix...
• We are a group of bright, kind people who are motivated by challenge.
• Stitch Fix’s mission is to help people feel like their best selves, and that’s just as true for our own employees as it is for our clients. You can be your authentic self here, and are empowered to encourage others to do the same!
• We are a successful, fast-growing company at the forefront of tech and retail. Together, we are building a company that is redefining an entire industry.
• We are a technology and data-driven business, with a lot of creativity and style.
• We are a values-based company that is committed to realizing our vision of “transforming the way people find what they love.”
• We love solving problems, thinking creatively and trying new things.
• We believe in autonomy & taking initiative.
• We take what we do seriously. We don’t take ourselves seriously.
• We have a smart, experienced leadership team that wants to do it right & is open to new ideas.
• We offer competitive compensation packages and comprehensive health benefits.
