Job Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements
Reporting to the Manager of Investor Relations & Corporate Planning, this role will support the company’s investor relations function, corporate financial reporting needs, and perform ad hoc analysis supporting the company’s strategic financial goals. This individual will be responsible for maintaining an acute attention to detail with a high level of business maturity, as relevant content will be highly sensitive and leveraged in critical company decisions.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Planning & Forecasting
• Assist in the annual long-range strategic planning process across the entire brand portfolio
• Consolidate operational and financial projections for the development of both short-term and long-term planning
• Participate in comprehensive corporate planning cycle; to include financial and operational components
• Utilize analysis of trends and brand strategies for budgeting process, outline potential benefits, risks, and impact of implementing new strategies
• Develop relationships and work cross-functionally with the brands and regions to drive effective planning and execution of budgets
• Provide forecasting for purposes of both operational teams as well as senior management
• Conduct financial analysis to assist in setting forward-looking guidance
• Create dynamic modeling tools, including three-statement financial models
• Assist in modeling and analyzing various capital allocation initiatives including share buybacks, etc.
Reporting & Analysis
• Support the development of presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors
• Create timely, insightful and actionable reporting with Oracle tools (Hyperion & Business Intelligence)
• Report on performance of business segments against key metrics within plan, forecast, etc.
• Provide variance analysis for financial results as compared to prior year, budget, forecast and guidance
• Work cross-functionally to develop tracking and reporting of operating expenses
• Assist in competitive analysis and peer benchmarking
• Develop and drive visual reporting for all levels of management utilizing tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, etc.
• Support foreign currency exchange rate fluctuation analysis, and related financial modeling
• Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed
Investor Relations Support
• Develop strong understanding of Deckers’ brand portfolio, strategy and competitive landscape
• Assist in the maintenance of the Investor Relations website, to ensure that it is current with all press releases, SEC filings, and company updates
• Support preparation of earnings related materials for management
• Assist with monitoring analyst reports and consensus estimates
• Analyze changes in quarterly top shareholders and total shareholder base per 13-F filings and report to senior management and the Board of Directors
• Support in the creation of investor presentations and other materials for meetings with investors and sell-side analysts
• Log all investor calls and meetings in contact management database
Education & Experience
Education/Experience/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, or other relevant field.
• 2-4 years prior experience in analytical based role(s).
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, including high level of ability in Excel. Ability to develop Excel models for use in valuation, risk analysis, forecasting, scenario modeling, etc.
• Experience in Oracle financial reporting tools preferred.
• Familiarity with US GAAP and SOX compliance, as well as SEC reporting requirements.
• Thorough understanding of core financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present concise information to a variety of audiences throughout the organization.
• Proven ability to execute critical thinking and approach all situations with a consistent methodology and analytical process.
• Familiarity with foreign currency exchange rates and related financial reporting, modeling.
