Specific Responsibilities
The position of Import Coordinator - Transportation reports directly to the Manager of Transportation working closely with the Senior Director of Transportation, Director of Distribution, and Senior Managers of Operations Support. This position will have significant responsibility coordinating and directing the movement of inbound container freight to the final DC Location, and pre-paid outbound movements from all GBG sites and 3PL partners, including FTL, LTL, Expedited, and air shipments for all GBG divisions, spanning multiple DC locations across North America
• Oversee and ensure that customer delivery requirements are met with the appropriate application of dray provider.
• Pre Plan each transaction from origin to meet established GBG SLA targets at the Port of Entry by evaluating all assigned shipment notices, working with the Ocean Carriers, Marine Terminal Operators and Drayage Vendors.
• Plan the demand for assets through the use of the demand planning tool in the Trinium system.
• Work with Panyu (China) GBG Team members and assign port pickups to dray partners in conjunction with plan.
• Responsible for the SLA performance of all Dray Partners and other vendors handling port pickups as assigned by Manager.
• Creates and distributes reporting for vendor and dray partner performance, identifies issues with partner performance, and follows up on progress regarding corrective action plan(s).
• Responsible for the updating and accuracy of dray partner and vendor compliance information in Trinium system with all necessary information including customer billing, transactional status, and customer status reporting via Trinium.
• Distribute, on a daily basis, key Customers and DC’s specific status update reports through designated Trinium tools.
• Provide timely and prompt responses to all customer inquiries, via phone, email, and other methods as defined.
• Communicate daily or as needed with customer, drayage partners, brokers, terminals, and SSL’s as needed to support timely movement of GBG containers/freight/shipments.
• Oversee and ensure deliveries and pickups are made consistent the specific service level agreements (SLA).
• Oversee and ensure proper records on dispatches for operations and billing purposes.
• Responsible for supervising per diem/demurrage information and distribution to dispatchers and customers.
• Assist in handling paperwork, billing and other administrative activities.
• Other duties and training as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.
Skills and Requirements
• At least two years of experience in the transportation/logistics industry specifically LGB/LA harbor container trucking.
• At least two years of direct transactional management experience including managing business transactions and the direct and indirect associates responsible for execution of the transactions.
• Solid communication skills including written and verbal.
• The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong Excel skills with the ability pull data from multiple sources to develop effective decision making tools through use of pivot tables and advanced functions.
• Familiarity with geography of the region in which they will operate and be familiar with Port, Rail, and DC locations.
• Must have knowledge of Hazardous Materials regulations and be familiar with State and Federal safety laws.
• Must be able to keep transaction logs current and complete including profitability by transaction.
• Experience with systems such as Trinium and SAP a plus but not required.
