Overview
The Intern in Category Management, Engagement will partner with the Senior Analyst, Pricing to learn more about the product category including merchandising and pricing strategies. This role will be focused on understanding and executing the pricing strategy for serialized diamond rings. S/he will collaborate on key projects which contribute to sales and optimize inventory productivity.
The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, cross functional team leadership experience as well as a keen interest in retail, pricing and product strategy.
Responsibilities
Pricing
• Perform detailed analysis of serialized diamond pricing structure and propose retail strategy for existing product that optimizes sales and margin. Ensure pricing strategy consistency for comparable product.
• Partner with Senior Analyst, Pricing to execute price changes.
• Report on competitive pricing and benchmark Tiffany’s position.
• Respond to ad-hoc pricing requests.
Assortment Planning
• Collaborate on detailed assortment review to maximize category sales and productivity.
• Perform assortment analysis and provide recommendations for changes and improvements to maximize sales and productivity; Identify regional trends and recommend assortment strategies when appropriate.
• Support the development of reports and presentations for meetings and conferences, including collection trend reports, category-wide style reviews, competitive shopping analysis, and high-level view of new product introductions.
Merchandising Organization:
• Create reporting to track strategic initiatives and to provide business recommendations.
• Collaborate on monthly category reporting, including analysis of worldwide and regional trends in sales/unit volume, gross margin, and collections/styles.
• Coordinate style and product category reviews for various presentations.
• Field branch inquiries and offer appropriate suggestions in a timely manner.
Qualifications
• Overall knowledge/experience in the workings of retail business practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) with adaptability to new software
• Must have strong analytical skills
• Must be able to think strategically – then implement steps to achieve goals
• Must have excellent organizational, communication and written skills
• Must be able to work with cross functional teams
• Ability to be flexible and adept to changing priorities (ability to multi-task is essential)
Preferred Qualifications/Primary Job Requirements:
• Comprehension of the product offered at Tiffany & Co.
• Knowledge of retail math
