The Merchant will support the Sr. Merchant with strategies and direction for the Bottoms business. This is a global role supporting brand product initiatives in all Dockers markets. Proven ability working in a cross functional team through collaboration, ability to make timely decisions by gaining alignment from the team while managing the brand point of view and direction. Knowledge of the consumer, marketplace and ability to identify trend are required. Strong ability to communicate and tailor communication for different functional partners from creative minds to analytical minds. Can create and execute seasonal product strategies that support the brands financial objectives and consumer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leverage and build global market expertise, filtering market trends and direction through brand filters, ensuring flawless execution and product aesthetic meets the Dockers brand needs
• Influence and present strategies and recommendation to Bottoms lead for approval and adoption
• Manage the Go-to-Market(GTM) deliverables within the GTM calendar. Communicate deadlines and expectations to ensure partners meet deadlines
• Effectively work with the cross functional team in Bottoms and across merchandising to build product strategies and identify opportunities
• Collaborate with regional merchants, marketing, product development, planning and design partners for internal alignment
• Develop seasonal strategies and prioritize tasks to support Global Brand strategies and meet financial targets
• Identify business opportunities and risks in-season through gathering information across regions, analyzing performance and gathering marketplace information
• Champion product through lifecycle; serve as a leader of cross functional team
• Experience and ability to track and understand the marketplace and identify trends, product directions to build product strategies
• Ability to drive a team and deliver results that support the overall business objectives and product priorities of the Dockers Brand
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree (3-5+ years combined college education and work experience may be substituted for a degree)
• Minimum 3 years of some combination of product development, licensing or merchandising retail experience with an apparel company
• Experience in wholesale a plus
