Director, Strategy - Wrangler/Lee
Responsible for the development of a strategic vision for the Wrangler and Lee brands, and execution of supporting strategic initiatives. This role will be heavily involved with annual strategic planning process, consumer research efforts, leading new business development initiatives and will provide internal consulting to business leaders on a variety of issues. A primary focus will be to raise the skills and practical application of consumer insights and research sciences among the Jeans wear team to ensure quality decision making as we grow into adjacent spaces and channels.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the development, communication, and implementation and execution of the 18 – 60 month strategy (including Where to Play/How To Win, OGSTM, IMM, Quarterly Review Process, Brand Architecture among others) and aligned business plans. Work with Corporate Strategy function to ensure strategy development processes and interfaces meet desired standards.
• Partner with leadership to identify strategically aligned growth opportunities, and develop plans for executing supporting initiatives, which may include line extensions into new categories, licensing opportunities, and development of growth platforms in adjacent spaces, new distribution channels and geographies, or branding efforts.
• Build and maintain best in class consumer, market and competitor research capabilities; translate and communicate output into actionable business operations. Support the coalition in using consumer data as part of their everyday activity.
• Coach and develop Team members. Manage Team by establishing and monitoring goals and processes; conduct timely performance appraisals of direct reports. Align team goals with Coalition and Corporate initiatives. Develop and manage departmental budget.
• Work with Marketing and Coalition teams to drive growth through introduction and use of new skills, capabilities and processes.
• GSM development and implementation.
• Prepare materials for brand strategy meetings, Board of Directors, other strategic initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
education/experience, years of related professional experience:
• Four Year Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline
• MBA strongly preferred
Skills:
• 10 years of related experience in a leadership role
• CPG, Apparel, or Retail strategy experience required
• Able to effectively organize, plan, & manage multiple businesses needs
• Strong analytical, creative problem-solving, and influencing skills
• Effectively balances theory with pragmatism
• Demonstrated High EQ in complicated or unfamiliar corporate cultures
• Must be a self-starter & able to take projects from concept to completion.
• Experienced & comfortable with effecting “evolutionary vs. revolutionary” change
• Able to lead teams of professionals to create & manage complex/diverse business activities.
• A capable negotiator that can develop consensus with cross-functional internal & external business partners.
• A strong communicator with presentation skills & financial management abilities.
• Brings skill sets/experience that is new to the team, specifically in the areas of strategy & consumer-focused research.
• Management style should be engaged, hands-on & team player.
• Comfort operating at Coalition level; balances different businesses effectively to move the entire company forward.
