Major Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Serve as an expert on the U.S. GAAP and SEC accounting issues by performing research for various technically complex transactions, contracts, and other initiatives. Prepare accounting policy memos documenting conclusions and discuss with stakeholders across the Company.
• Serve as the primary resource relating to accounting for new acquisitions, including working with valuation firms, preparing purchase accounting adjustments, drafting pro-forma financial statements and related disclosures
• Participate in debt offerings and review of various bank financing arrangements
• Identify, research and communicate resolution on various accounting-related questions from global divisions
• Participate in the implementation of new accounting standards and the preparation and review of new accounting policies
• Support internal and external auditor review of various transactions and related documentation
• Undertake special projects to support global finance initiatives and assist with training on technical accounting matters across the Company.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• B.S. or above degree in Accounting
• CPA required
• Minimum 6 years of public accounting experience, including experience with publically traded companies
• Strong U.S. GAAP and SEC technical accounting skills, including ability to research and conclude on complex accounting issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to understand and impart complex information to individuals at all levels
• Ability to analyze operations, develop and implement effective solutions to existing problems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and successfully multi-task
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience working closely with outside auditors
• Experience in retail industry a plus
Computer Skills:
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Experience with various on-line accounting research tools
