Assistant Designer – Home Textiles
Reports to
Design Director
Overview
To assist Home Textiles team in the creation, development, and execution of own brand product appropriate for the Urban Outfitters customer as well as departmental administrative and clerical duties
Responsibilities
• Support design team in executing and adding information to tech packs
• CAD designer’s sketches in Illustrator & Photoshop for meetings and draw sketches to specification
• Color changes to artwork when needed
• Size expansions: making existing artworks bigger, filling in sections of artwork into different shape templates
• Putting artwork into repeat
• Printing and managing large format printer
• Researching trends
• Attend major trend meetings for each season
• Assist design team in prepping for meeting presentations and organizing design space
Qualifications
• 2 years of textile design or print design experience preferred
• Proficient Photoshop and Illustrator skills – ability to technical sketch
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects, and complete them within deadlines
• Ability to take direction and work in a team environment
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills to interact with design department and other Home Office staff
• Understanding of home textile construction
• A good sense of color
• Basic understanding of artwork repeats and color separation.
• The ability to recognize and accurately forecast, fashion and cultural trends
Education
Bachelors Degree in Textile Design
