The company designs and sells its own exclusive line of apparel in a full range of sizes, and carries a unique assortment of fashion and home decor from over a hundred independent designers.
The Assistant Technical Designer will work closely with the Technical Designers, supporting fittings, measuring and sending fit comments to vendors. This role will report directly to our Technical Design Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Check in samples received from vendors and own all measuring for fittings
• Prep for and attend daily fittings, taking detailed notes and pictures
• Set up fit comments and pictures for review and approval prior to sending out
• Maintain professional and timely email correspondence with vendors
• Keep Wip reports and Databases up to date
• Organize and track samples through the department
• Maintain organized storage folders and filing system for all documentation
• Return requested samples to vendors, preparing shipping label and package
• Bring urgent issues to Manager’s attention for input and direction
Requirements:
• 1-3 years in technical design
• Degree in Fashion Design, emphasis on Technical Design
• Knock-our-socks-off knowledge of Illustrator sketching and Excel
• Knows the ropes of measuring techniques
• Basic understanding of garment construction
• Exceptional organizational skills and thrives in a fast paced environment
• Able to work collaboratively as a team player within the department and cross functional teams
• Self-starter personality; driven by deadlines with a high sense of urgency
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• Knowledge of fabrics
• Basic understanding of patterns
• Familiar with fittings on a dress form or live model
• Familiar with communicating fit comments both written and oral to import and domestic vendors
• Basic understanding of the garment production process
• Super fun team player with exciting outlook on the way ModCloth works
• Systems experience: Excel, Illustrator, Google Docs
