MISSION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Assistant Marketing Manager Brand Development is responsible for aiding the brand team in all areas of the Marketing (strategic, operational and creative). He/she is responsible to assist in researching, developing and implementing a new brand and the communication strategy, which is aligned with corporate objectives.
The Assistant Manager will also support the team in New Business Development analyzing the cosmetic /fragrance business, thus proceeding with business recommendations relevant to the overall growth of the category.
He/she will contribute to the total effectiveness of the department, communicating openly, solving problems proactively, offering creative ideas and working as a positive engaged team member.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Brand equity and positioning
◦ Support development and activation of brand strategy
• New product development
◦ Gap assessments
# Track, analyze, and maintain competitive information as pertinent to brands. Compile articles from key trade journals/magazines, etc., to obtain competitive information, current trends in the marketplace and to generate innovative seasonal program ideas. Communicate pertinent information to brand team. Maintain database of critical data
◦ Concept development and testing
# Recommend new approaches, strategies, and new product initiatives as appropriate to Brand management based on Analysis output or Market Research
◦ Package/Product design
# Participate in development of packaging/product
◦ Naming / claims
# Participate in development of names and claims
◦ Pricing
# Conduct competitive pricing analysis
# Participate in development of pricing
◦ MAF
# Issue all MAFs
◦ GATE / NPO meetings
# Assist in preparation of NPO meetings
◦ Coding
# Request and track all NARS and Oracle Codes for product and displays
• Sales materials
◦ Assist in development of sales materials
• Marketing plan, budget & P&L
◦ Participate in development of annual strategic/tactical marketing plans
◦ Assist in Budget management, monitor and track expenses
◦ Assist in P&L management, pricing, estimating costs and promotional expenses
• Advertising / media
◦ Assist in development of marketing objectives, media guidelines and creative strategies
◦ Participate in development of advertising
◦ Attend weekly Creative Status Meetings to ensure good communication and adherence to program timetable
◦ Support local markets with their local execution
• Digital marketing
◦ Participate in development of digital marketing and social networking
◦ Website management
• PR
◦ Assist in preparation for all PR materials needed for PR events – launches and on-going support
• Promotions / POP / permanent merchandising
◦ Assist in development of marketing objectives and creative strategies
◦ Participate in development of promotion and POP materials
• Brand reviews
◦ Support and participate in quarterly review process and periodic formal Brand Reviews, Brand Presentations
• Market research / market intelligence
◦ Conduct market analysis, including category and product trends and opportunities
• Value analysis
◦ Assist in on-going value analysis
• Business performance tracking
◦ Conduct ongoing evaluative analyses of brand and category sales
◦ Generate and analyze sales reports as needed for brand analysis
• Brand portfolio management
◦ Monitor excess and obsolete inventory
• New Business Development
◦ Support the team with analysis to determine and recommend new Brand/License/Channel opportunities for the organization
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• 4-year Undergraduate Degree in Marketing or Related Field, MBA is a plus
• 3+ years of Marketing and/or related experience
Other Responsibilities and Skills
• Strong professional outlook and interpersonal skills to interface with all marketing support teams in order to actualize marketing programs. This includes on-going project management with Purchasing, Package Development, Creative, Displays, Finance, Research and Operations teams
• Interface with all internal support groups (e.g., Creative, Packaging, Purchasing, Finance) as well as external vendors (Ad Agency, Public Relations agency, Promotional houses)
• Execute plans via timely development of programs
• Provide accurate, well-organized data in a timely manner
