Undergraduate Advisor - Undergraduate Advisement
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Undergraduate Advisor provides academic advisement to all undergraduate students, participates in registration and pre-registration processes, and disseminates information to students regarding school policy.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide general student advisement to all undergraduates to include:
◦ Course selection
◦ Curriculum planning
◦ Graduation checks
◦ Leaves of absence
◦ Referrals to other supporting departments (financial aid, bursar, registrar, etc.)
• Disseminate information to students regarding school policy.
• Participate in registration and pre-registration process.
• Monitor late registration and program adjustments.
• Assist Admissions regarding curricular changes, transfer credits, portfolios, international student admissions and evaluations, etc.
• Assist the Director and Associate Director with student statistics and work in conjunction with the Director to forecast class scheduling.
• Prepare student schedules in coordination with relevant departments.
• Utilize online tools and/or other systems for day-to-day student record keeping including:
◦ Business objects reporting software
◦ Web advisor
◦ Datatel Colleague
• Review and correct student records as needed.
• Serve on appropriate Institute committees as assigned by the Director.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:BFA required, MFA preferred.
Experience and Skills:1 year of experience in higher education with college advisement experience preferred. Computer literate, excellent interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills needed. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of students and staff, as well as demonstrate inter-cultural competence with an understanding of the dynamics of diversity in higher education.
Other: Well organized with a desire and ability to work in an artistic environment with a diverse student body.
