JOB PURPOSE
To protect the brand in Latin America by supporting Burberry’s anti-counterfeiting enforcement program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Implement and contribute to Burberry’s strategy for anti-counterfeiting work in Latin America
• Monitor and report on the presence of counterfeit merchandise in local bricks and mortar markets;
• Lead investigations into those engaged in the manufacture, distribution, import, export and sale of counterfeit merchandise in Latin America;
• Respond timely and accurately to product authentication requests from government agencies;
• Monitor presence of Burberry merchandise offered in regional and local digital platforms and enforce IP rights as needed;
• Establish effective and collaborative working relationships with appropriate Customs and Law Enforcement personnel;
• Represent/Liaison on behalf of Burberry with the Latin America taskforce of the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition;
• Provide training on how to identify counterfeit Burberry merchandise to Customs, Law Enforcement, and Burberry’s third-party partners;
• Provide written and oral testimony as necessary in criminal, civil, or administrative hearings;
• Capture and record data relating to civil matters, criminal matters, and seizures into Burberry’s Brand Protection database;
• Support and provide direction to outside counsel on civil enforcement matters in Latin America.
PERSONAL PROFILE
• Excellent attention to detail
• At least 3 years of intellectual property experience
• Experience with anti-piracy/anti-counterfeiting in Latin America
• Experience working with local counsel in Latin America
• Experience working with customs and/or law enforcement
• Bachelor's Degree
• Strong working knowledge of the tools available to enforce intellectual property rights, particularly trademarks, and the relevant administrative, criminal and civil enforcement remedies available in Latin America
• Fluent in English and Spanish
• Ability to multi-task and problem solve
• Strong time management skills
• Ability to work independantly as well as part of a team
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Adept in Microsoft Office applications
