Job Description
Our team puts our emphasis on the customer, accommodating her in any way we can! Fit is our focus, and we're going to do what it takes to make sure she feels beautiful in our product. This individual will own all aspects of Technical Design for Women's Sweaters.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position is responsible for creating Kohl's private label apparel merchandise technical specifications in Women's sweaters. Works closely with other Technical Designers, Product Managers and Designers in the complete development of apparel, ensuring consistency in our garment quality and fit while meeting set deadlines. Should work closely with supervisor.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Fit & Construction Execution (from Development & Production)
• Complete accurate technical packages that adhere to Kohl's testing, construction & quality standards.
• Develop comprehensive graded specs (WebPDM).
• Develop signature construction standards.
• Ensure appropriate product testing for performance standards.
• Research trends and conduct fit comparisons to business partners based on findings.
• Help establish Kohl's construction standards for vendor to follow and monitor adherence.
Fit Sessions and Symposiums Facilitation
• Adhere to development and fit approval process - concentrating on fit, styling, and construction.
• Lead fit sessions using live model/body form to assess fit, proportion, and overall styling of garments; inspect construction/workmanship.
• Provide detailed evaluation for each fit sample which may include pattern corrections, sketches, photos and fit comments to Kohl's agents/vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Bachelor's Degree in Technical Design, Design, or Patternmaking / Apparel Manufacturing.
• Minimum 5 years of technical design experience.
• Required knowledge, skills and ability to fit and interpret fit.
• Experience leading fit sessions and the ability to communicate ideas and to answer questions appropriately
• Must have related category experience in Women's Sweaters.
Preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• In depth knowledge of textiles, construction, and patternmaking/grading/sizing.
• Proven computer skills and experience using Gerber WebPDM and Adobe Illustrator or similar on-line specification package and sketching program.
