Michael Kors is all about putting the customer at the center of the experience while providing style as a service. UX and UI designers to create holistic, human-centered experiences across Michael Kors web and native products to align with the overall Experience Design vision.
As the Manager of UI at Michael Kors, you will be the ambassador for our customers and associates, representing them all the way from inception through implementation. Simply put, you will be designing experiences that always put people first. Day to day, you will manage the team of designers to create, refine and elevate the digital Michael Kors experience for our customer. We will trust you and your team to be the champions of elevated UI, and to maintain a clear understanding of goals throughout the lifecycle of a project.
You will help create a vision for our global digital brand and marketing. You will collaborate across departments to drive consistent Design Principles tying together our eCommerce and mobile products and platforms in a way that is a chic, elevated, sophisticated, Jet Set, luxury, and seamless extension of the core retail experience. This team member will be report into the Experience Design Director under e-commerce. You will collaborate with eCommerce, Retail, Creative Services, Innovation and IT teams to create empowering digital experiences for our Customers and Retail Associates.
You will contribute to strategic product thinking with product managers. You will partner with our eCommerce, Marketing, Innovation, Web Production, IT, and Analytics teams to understand user needs and market opportunities. Your team will create detailed interaction flows one day, conduct design briefings for special projects, Mobile Alpha & Beta programs, as well as eCommerce platform enhancements the next. Ultimately, you will support partners beyond the product teams with excellent design principles and communication.
Last but not least, you will build lively, front-end prototypes that engineers will use to guide the design of a “final” product through cohesive UI’s that support the product and the Michael Kors brand.
Responsibilities
• Support overall site interface design and updates for Michaelkors.com and app as this contributes to the evolution of customer experience while aligning with the brand projection.
• Supports the overall interface design and updates of omni-channel initiatives
• Translate business and marketing objectives into designs that are clear, compelling, and on brand with the intent of the user.
• Participate on creation and maintenance of UI pattern documentation for execution.
• Must be able to manage daily workload and individual development.
• Ensure that the design output is high quality, brand appropriate, while completing requirements on time for both internal and external reviews.
• Develop process improvements and documentation for new feature adoption by content creation team.
• Establishing the patterns for all design elements between user interface including how it relates to the site
• The ability to design for a global approach
• Defining rules for UI on how the interface should behave depending multiple variables to ensure visual balance and user behavior
• Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback to establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and UI design standards
• Create innovative, usable products that users love
Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience, 3 years of managing
• A strong sense of style with impeccable design fundamentals.
• Passion for UI design, type and micro interactions as they come together to create user experiences.
• Discerning, brand sensitive eye for designed user flows.
• Ability to develop interface design systems that combine branding and commerce.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment while executing complex system design from start to finish.
• Experience working on a large ecommerce site, or familiarity with development and agile builds.
• Experience creating and communication through spec documents for developers both in-house and off site.
• Resourceful self-starter who is collaborative, inclusive and flexible team member and partner.
• Strong communication and presentation skills preferred.
• BFA in Digital Design or equivalent, 7-9 years of experience
• CS5 Keynote, Sketch, InVision, Proto.io, Photoshop, and understanding of code.
• Strong retail/fashion brand experience or interest a plus
