Celebrating our legacy of modern fashion, creativity, individuality, and intrigue by providing every guest with an unparalleled customer experience, we are seeking a Manager, Digital Assets & Image Editing to be based out of our Long Island City, Web Studio. Reporting to the VP, Web Studio, this position is responsible for the end-to-end management of all day-to-day asset management and post-production operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include:
• Ownership & management of all Barneys New York post-production requirements & processes.
• Management of the internal Image Editing Team, fostering buy-in to all business objectives while creating a culture of quality, consistency, accountability & innovation that is driven to deliver best-in-class digital assets to the global organization.
• Manage day-to-day communications with external Retouching Vendors.
• Maintain and manage a pool of auxiliary Freelance Image Editors in order to scale throughput as needed to meet business needs.
• Partner with the Creative & Photography Teams on special projects providing insight, direction and oversight of post-production as needed, ensuring expert level execution on all deliverables.
• Partner with Buying Teams in the reviewal of Vendor Images advising usability in accordance with the Barneys New York image standards.
• Work cross-functionally with various teams to identify deadlines and ensure all digital assets are strategically routed and prioritize through post-production processes based on business needs.
• Act as the gatekeeper of all digital assets, managing the accounting of & movement/transfer through all software platforms from creation to final archive.
• Take an active role in the image editing/selection process ensuring that any assets that are out of spec are rejected prior to entering the post-production workflow.
• Ensure all images are marked up and annotated with clear and concise post-production instructions as needed.
• Distribute day-to-day workload to in-house Image Editors & external Retouching Vendors.
• Perform final QA on all digital assets ensuring all Barneys New York image standards and specs are met prior to publishing live.
• Set and monitor KPI’s to measure success and efficiencies across the Image Editing Team & Retouching Vendors while continually seeking improvements.
• Ensure all Internal and Vendor SLA’s are met.
• Work with the internal Image Editing Team & external Retouching Vendors to develop and establish any new workflows and standards as needed.
• Create & maintain documentation/guides of all standardized asset management and post-production processes.
• Train and mentor Image Editing Team in the continual development of position specific skills.
• Hold weekly team meetings ensuring staff is aligned on all pending projects & new initiatives.
• Hold monthly one-on-one touch base meetings with each team member providing feedback on performance and additional training as needed.
• Work alongside the Product Management team as needed through all development stages of a new DAM system, ultimately taking over the day-to-day Admin responsibilities upon final implementation.
• Continually explore and present ideas to Sr. Management for improving the quality and efficiencies across all areas of the position's responsibilities.
Requirements:
• BA/BFA and/or 3-5 min years of equivalent experience in a Digital Asset Management and/or Image Editing leadership role within a fast-paced studio or production environment.
• Excellent team leadership & management skills.
• Excellent organizational & communication skills (oral & written).
• Proven ability to work well under the pressure of tight deadlines.
• Ability to multitask, make decisions and efficiently prioritize & delegate workloads within in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to assess, identify and implement best practices.
• Effective problem solver able to assess and adapt to changing priorities and strategies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Possess a portfolio that demonstrates a high level of skill with on-figure fashion & product composition & retouching, as well as an impeccable eye for detail.
• Advanced knowledge of industry standard post-production workflows, metadata management, and DAM system architectures.
• Strong proficiency with Mac OS, BOX, FTP Applications, Wacom Tablets, Capture One, Adobe Bridge CC, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Google Docs & Monitor Calibration using i1Display.
• Expert level proficiency within Adobe Photoshop CC.
• Expertise in pathing, masking, retouching (skin, reflections, texture, etc.), color correction & image compositing.
• Expertise in liquefying with a strong eye for proportion and silhouette.
• Expertise in actions and bulk image editing.
• Awareness of latest fashion trends as well as familiarity with the Barneys brand and aesthetic.
