Job Description:
Design innovative, commercially viable product that delivers value and style for the assigned consumer segment, as well as supporting the development, evolution and communication of a brand look that supports and deepens the brand value and identity. Interprets design vision that inspires both global and local creative hubs.
Scope:
Designs product for multiple categories with high complexity and/or volume. Requires the assimilation of qualitative and quantitative information from multiple sources.
Key Responsibilities:
• Produce seasonal design platforms and concepts (global team), and identify consumer relevant product opportunities based on global market research and local team input.
• Develop the selection of the fabric, color, print/pattern, details and trims; local design teams adopt.
• Consistently identifies opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency.
• Manage the seasonal calendar and design process to meet assortment plan and source location requirements.
• Consider if the collection fulfills product plan line.
• Incorporates a fit portfolio that will deliver upon our position as the leading denim authority with our consumers.
• May manage one or more lower level designers from concept through development.
Job Requirements:
• Thorough business understanding along with a passion to create leading edge design ideas that will grow business and enhance the brand
• Influence and work across different disciplines
• Lead a team or direct reports to achieve the goals of a common vision
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Collaborate and influence within and across different parts of the organization
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation and public speaking expertise
• Recognized as a category expert
• Build and develop a creative design team, and sustain effective partnerships with Merchandising, Product Development and Sourcing to ensure products are engineered to profit and quality/aesthetic goals.
• Degree in Design (8+ years of combined college education and work experience may be substituted for a degree)
• Minimum of 5 years design experience, including 2 years as a designer or lead designer in a company setting or design firm.
• Computer literacy/fluency with design related applications
• Primarily works in an office environment
• Extensive computer use (min of 6 hours a day)
• May require international travel (sitting for extending periods of time)
