JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Production Artist / Graphic Designer to create print-ready mechanicals according to brand guidelines for packaging. This person will need to seamlessly join a highly productive and fast-paced studio environment. Must have a keen eye for design, typography and attention to detail, feel comfortable following strict brand guidelines as well as be able to manipulate graphics creatively when necessary. A thorough understanding of the various printing processes and manufacturing techniques for both primary and secondary packaging are required, as well as a thorough understanding of structure/deadlines. Must be comfortable using hands and tools to mock up pre-production samples and comps.
Under the guidance of the Art Director, the Production Artist / Graphic Designer supports projects that address strategic business objectives for the Levi’s global brand marketing efforts. They are an expert in layout, production, and delivery and manage their work to the highest possible standards for all assets across all mediums, with specific attention to print production expertise and brand and campaign identity development. The Graphic Designer consistently seeks to enhance the level of creativity executed on all projects and works with the Art Director to ensure deliverables meet all brand standards and requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The purpose of this position is to work on the production, layout, and versioning of the graphic design needs of the Levi's Brand Presentation department and to assist primarily with the adaptation and extension of existing design structures and brand advertising.
The function of this role is to:
• Produce print-ready production mechanicals.
• Version apparel packaging (hangtags, boxes) based on existing designs.
• Maintain organized archive of art files (digital and physical).
• Concept and design apparel packaging by presenting multiple solutions, being able to articulate the thought process behind each idea.
• Develop relationships, working with internal / external business partners to ensure aligned objectives, on-budget and on-brand execution (Raw Materials, Marketing Strategy, Program Management, Print Vendors).
• Support the studio with layout of seasonal directives, toolkits, and look books.
• Attend and participate in high-level creative meetings regarding the visual design directives and ensure that the GBC Team is always represented and completes follow-up actions.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree equivalent education within Design/Arts field and/or Project Management.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience at an agency or in-house graphic design department.
• Intermediate to expert level in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, AcrobatPro and In-Design on a Mac platform and pre-flight production.
• In-house retail graphic design experience preferred.
• Skilled in compositing and retouching in Photoshop.
• Experience with various printed mediums and materials and large format printing.
• Proficient in building print-ready files with an acute attention to detail.
• Ability to comprehend logical page structure, readability, visual hierarchy and balance packaging.
