Job Description
Customer Experience Designer
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Customer Experience Designer will leverage the voice of the Kohl's customer to craft on-brand experiences that meet customer expectations and measurable business goals throughout the digital shopping journey across all channels. The CX Designer will produce human-centered design (HCD) deliverables such as process flows, wireframes, user interactions, visual mockups, and prototypes. These assets will facilitate business and consumer alignment throughout the product development lifecycle, and support the planning and execution of customer experiences across Kohl's organizational disciplines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
CX Design
• Conceptualizes user experiences using sketching, storyboarding, information modeling and other methods.
• Create CX artifacts to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed experience requirements and interaction behaviors for all Kohl's customer experiences, across all devices.
• Collaborate with product managers, creative and copy, engineering, QA and analytics team members.
• Participate on an agile team to help define customer experience solutions.
• Develop low and hi fidelity prototypes for consumer and business evaluation.
• Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications and documentation.
• Effectively communicates design solutions to CX senior leadership.
• Presents CX design work in progress to CX senior leadership in weekly design reviews at every stage in the process.
UX Research Support
• Collaborate with CX research team to plan and execute research actives that drive Kohl's Human-Centered Design process example: usability testing, cognitive design walkthrough, heuristic evaluation.
• Leverages research (varies by needs of intent) to inform or refine designs. This includes determining research goals, creating a test plan and facilitator’s script, recruiting users, executing the study protocol (e.g. lab test, remote test, survey), and analyzing the results.
UX Process and Methodologies
• Provide insight in the area of user experience and usability.
• Develop and maintain Kohl's customer experience DNA to ensure consistency and consumer familiarity throughout the digital ecosystem.
• Assist in creation, governance, and maintenance of interaction, usability, and accessibility standards and pattern library components.
• Contribute to Kohl's overall CX maturity. This includes creating and refining processes and developing tools and templates that can be applied company-wide.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a customer experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role
• Minimum Bachelor's degree in design, human computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to deliver high quality work consistently and on time.
• Understanding of agile methodology and Lean UX.
• Ability to work within agile team.
• A strong voice, informed by evidence and grounded in customer data
• Attention to detail, while also considering the big picture.
• Self-motivated with positive attitude.
• Expert understanding of methods for designing easy to use interfaces in a variety of web-based and mobile formats including social applications (FaceBook)
• Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Axure, Sketch, InVision, OmniGraffle, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Preferred
• 3+ years experience in retail merchandising/marketing, advertising, product development, e-commerce or related field.
• Familiarity with the capabilities of HTML, DHTML, CSS, Flash and AJAX-based applications.
• Native OS application design experience.
• An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions is a requirement for application.
