Merchandise Planner (Nautica DTC Women's)
The Nautica is looking for a Merchandise Planner to join our team in our Jersey City, NJ office. This position is responsible for developing, executing and communicating strategic merchandise plans that support the division's financial objectives for the Nautica Women's business. This includes the preparation and analysis of financial plans in retail, cost and units. These plans are based on historical data, buyer input and trend analysis. The Planner is also responsible for accurate season forecasting.
Individual will be responsible for the following:
• Create financial plans on a seasonal basis. These plans will include sales, inventory, receipts, markdowns and gross margin. These include key item and season code planning.
• Create all merchandise plans for their area of responsibility for each delivery period utilizing Arthur planning, with details down to week, level and rolled to a total year level. These plans include: Sales, Gross Margin, Inventory Turns, Receipts, Markdowns and suggested sku count. Ensure these are approved by Planning Manager, Senior Management, and the merchants at least two weeks before commitments to production are due.
• Demand vs. Shipped Sales Interpretation
• Partner with Merchant and Retail Planning Team to conduct business reviews highlighting current business trends, identify and action on risks and opportunities.
• Analyze sales and margin results, inventory flow, and work closely with the merchants in developing short and long-term merchandise strategies.
• Develop Season Code Plans to assist in developing the receipt plan by season code.
• Partner with buyer and inventory analyst to ensure assortment, including width and depth of product, supports merchandise plans.
• Analyze weekly/monthly performance including sales, margin, inventory turns against plan and forecast. Develop strategies to deal with any deviation from plan or any excess inventory position and present strategies to their merchant partners.
• Provide a detailed forecast against plan at the week level; updating the forecast based on Planning Manager, senior management and merchant team's input.
• Manage ending inventory of seasonal product by suggesting markdowns and other strategies to meet inventory objectives.
• Provide weekly reporting at the class or sub-department level for merchants and senior management to review. Provide all other requested reporting when needed.
• Participate in weekly meetings to re-project inventory levels, analyze sales results and suggest changes.
Qualified candidates must demonstrate the following skills:
• 5 years retail experience desired, at least 4 years work experience in an analytical field desired.
• Relevant planning experience required
• Bachelor's degree required
• Able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
• Advanced Excel skills are needed
• Demonstrates logical analysis and problem solving skills.
• Possesses an ability to understand financial measurements and how to impact them.
• Demonstrates strong listening, written and oral communication skills.
• Strong merchandising skills required.
• Strong trend analysis and problem solving skills.
