We are seeking a highly motivated, versatile and innovative Human Resources professional with a passion for all Human Resources functions within a luxury retail environment. The Human Resource Director will plan, organize and direct all aspects of HR and payroll functions of the store including recruiting, employee engagement, training and development and employee relations. The Human Resources Director must take a holistic approach to managing HR in a store environment, promoting teamwork and ensuring employee development consistent with corporate goals and strategies.
Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition and Staffing:
• Create and implement recruiting plans to support current and future hiring needs
• Understand the position responsibilities and profile of each area in the store so candidates can be recommended for placement accordingly
• Understand and continuously expand knowledge of the competitive job market
• Maintain an active network of retail professionals within the community
• Track and report weekly open positions
Employee Development:
• Train all newly hired associates and managers on Company orientation, benefits, customer service and selling skills, policy and procedure, relationship building and clienteling, POS training, and Inclusion & Diversity. Conduct separate training modules for Executives with focus on coaching, performance management, and conflict management
• Implement Customer Service & Goal Programs
• Promote wellness and employee engagement initiatives
• Implement and collaborate with Corporate Office on new and existing training programs
• Review and administer all non-exempt employee performance appraisals in the store; assist Managers in administration of exempt employee performance appraisals in the store
• Partner with the store’s General Manager to promote leadership development and growth for all store employees
• Promote Corporate employee recognition programs and initiatives
Compensation:
• Strategize annual budget process with General Manager & update weekly FTEs
• Work with Managers to reconcile weekly payroll; Process weekly payroll for all non-exempt associates
• Complete new hire, rehire and separation paperwork
• Complete Payroll Changes Notices for all staff and executive changes
• Maintain all non-exempt employee files
• Track benefit time (non-exempt & exempt) & maintain employee files (non-exempt)
• Complete non-exempt unemployment claims and employment verifications
• Work with supervisors to determine salary offers for non-exempt candidates
• Gather and communicate competitive compensation information
• Manage and facilitate process for all Leave of Absence claims/file (FMLA, STD, Workers’ Compensation, Military Leave, Personal Leave) in accordance with Company and state parameters
Employee Relations:
• Pro-actively speak with employees to assess and resolve issues
• Partner with Corporate Human Resources to proactively address all employee relations issues and, if necessary, issue appropriate and timely corrective actions
• Conduct staff exit interviews and recommends retention efforts
• Conduct investigations into all charges of harassment and discrimination
• Maintain copious records and documentation of all counseling conversations with employees
• Manage employee productivity and support Manager tracking of dependability
• Understand and ensure compliance with all state and federal employment law
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field
• Minimum five years of human resources experience required
• Excellent oral, written communication skills
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Innovative and forward-thinking
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
• Experience with Kronos payroll and Taleo applicant tracking systems are a plus
• Previous restaurant / food industry experience is a plus
• A working knowledge of state labor laws will enhance candidacy
