General Summary:
The Inventory Management Director is accountable for the strategy and coordination for the development, communication, and attainment of division/subdivision inventory management financial plans and goals. The IM Director leads the division or sub-division through the successful development, execution and communication of financial and inventory plans and strategies to meet or exceed sales, gross margin, GMROI and inventory goals. The IM Director is accountable for the continual success of the division/subdivision including articulating vision, measuring and developing talent, and ensuring successful operations of teams.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Develop, oversee, communicate and partner on division financials and product strategies
• Oversee development of LRP strategy and financials for division or multiple departments
• Lead development of annual, seasonal, monthly & weekly merchandise plans
• Oversee alignment and reconciliation of business unit plans (sales, inventory, pricing, product) to division strategies and financials
• Influences Commercial Plan
• Accountable for communicating business unit, division, and brand strategies
• Proactively guide in-season financial management, including OTB forecasting, pricing decisions, and demand driven buying decisions to deliver financial goals
• Lead and drive ongoing division/depts financial and strategic discussions and take action quickly to maximize financial results, mitigate risks, and positively impact short and long term business results
• Gain insights on business results to influence future division/depts/function strategies
• Identify and recommend in-season commercial plan changes for division/departments
• Drive cross-functional discussions and influence partners
• Provides guidance for team in prioritizing initiatives that maximize efforts and ties to key division goals; removes roadblocks to support team
• Participate and influence brand initiatives for continuous IM process improvement, ensuring ongoing effectiveness and efficiency
• Partners with cross-functional team leaders to shape/improve cross-functional operations
• Cultivate a collaborative, innovative and results-orientated environment for division and cross-functional teams
• Develop IM bench-strength and a talent pipeline through active participation in recruiting and succession planning
Key Experiences:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 7-10 years' experience in retail, preferable in Inventory Management
• 4 years of supervisory experience
• Analytic Skills: Ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
• Financial and Business Acumen: Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results; proficiency in retail math
• Problem Solving & Decision Quality: Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
• Relationship Management: Able to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners
• Presentation Skills: Effective in a variety of presentation settings including one-on-one, small and large groups, and with peers and bosses.
• Influencing & Negotiation: Can present ideas and directions that lead others to action
