How you’ll make a difference:
We seek a talented, meticulous, and trustworthy tax professional to lead the tax compliance for our business and help create and maintain a sound company-wide tax structure as we expand our marketplace activities. As our Director of Tax & Compliance, you will contribute directly to key business decisions as we take our company to the next level. An ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience analyzing business processes, researching tax implications, presenting findings in a useful and concise way, and implementing tax compliance procedures. This is a great opportunity for a superstar tax leader looking to work “in-house” with a fun, energetic, and innovative company.
In this critical role, you’ll have high visibility and exposure within the business, collaborate with those managing various operations across the company, and report to the CFO.
What you’ll do:
Our Director of Tax & Compliance will be responsible for leading the company’s tax and compliance functions to support future growth and innovation. Primary responsibilities will include:
• Leading the preparation of federal, state, and local income and sales tax returns
• Overseeing quarterly tax disbursement calculations for our LLC members and annual K-1 preparation
• Managing tax and statutory audit returns of foreign operations and the company’s indirect tax compliance process
• Identifying, and advising area leaders on, tax and compliance implications associated with the company’s structure, expansion plans, and operations to manage risk and support sound growth
• Reviewing transfer pricing documentation and related intercompany charges
• Guiding and developing your team and those you work with
• Maintaining professional and technical knowledge
This role is essential to evaluating the direction of the business and ensuring sound financial operations. Therefore, you must be comfortable gathering, confirming, and presenting information and explaining complex relationships in a group setting. You will be working with sensitive information, so you must be discrete and diligent in keeping such information confidential at all times. This position will require good time management and grace under pressure to meet tight deadlines for the many people relying on your work.
Finally, like all of us here, you’ll be responsible for helping create a positive work environment and strong relationships within the team and throughout Custom Ink.
How you’ll be measured:
This role is critical to continued financial excellence. Accordingly, key measures of success will be:
• The accuracy and relevance of information and advice on matters of taxation, compliance, and associated risk
• Exacting and timely completion of all returns, quarterly LLC member tax disbursements and associated auditing
• Ongoing mastery of the complex nature of our business, expansion plans, and business streams
• Strength and impact of interpersonal relationships as an adviser to leaders across the organization
• Continual improvement to the efficiency and accuracy of our financial operation overall
What we’re looking for:
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting
• 4+ years public accounting experience preferred
• 2+ years private/corporate tax experience preferred
• Demonstrated excellence in functional and people leadership
• Significant corporate and partnership tax compliance experience
• Knowledge of US GAAP and reporting requirements
• Experience addressing complex tax issues in a real-time environment
• Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• CPA a plus
In addition, you must share our company values—practicing the Golden Rule, taking Ownership, and driving and embracing Innovation.
Please apply by submitting both a resume and a cover letter.
