SET THE COURSE
The Sr. Director of Marketing will partner with the SVP of Marketing & Creative and the Sr. Creative Director to provide vision, direction, and strong leadership across all current and future Tommy Bahama Marketing channels, including all Digital touch points, CRM & Loyalty, Promotions, and Catalogs. The Sr. Director of Marketing will manage the day-to-day of the Marketing department, help develop new go-to-market brand strategies against business initiatives and marketplace trends, help execute and oversee public relations and internal communications, and facilitate the development of advertising campaigns and other brand-building initiatives. The Sr. Director of Marketing will ensure that all programs are aligned and on brand through the development, integration, and implementation of clear and proactive marketing programs/plans.
BE THE ISLAND GUIDE
• Oversee and align all marketing programs designed to attract customers to TommyBahama.com, retail stores, and restaurants, and total portfolio of marketing activities in the service of eCommerce, retail, restaurant, wholesale, and brand licensees.
• Create seasonal marketing deliverables and annual marketing plan in close partnership with key stakeholders across company.
• Analyze performance of all programs to insure ROI goals and sales targets are met.
• Provide leadership, inspiration, and guidance in attracting, hiring/contracting, coaching, retaining, and motivating a world-class marketing team.
• Model and promote a company-first, collaborative, and communicative culture that reflects Tommy Bahama’s values, encourages good performance, and rewards productivity.
• Work closely with eCommerce team to ensure multi-channel messaging and content strategy is consistently carried through website, email marketing, and beyond.
• Contribute to developing brand-building strategies and programs (brand, positioning, identity, messaging, partnerships, etc.).
• Design and execute marketing & public relations initiatives with outside agencies.
• Manage and direct all media buying.
• Oversee and direct the Loyalty program development, application and execution.
• Oversee and direct the Direct Mail program and coordinate with other marketing activities.
• Oversee performance reporting of marketing initiatives and relative effectiveness.
• Perform market research and oversee and summarize regular consumer tracking studies as well as ad-hoc qualitative and quantitative consumer market research that identifies white-space opportunities.
• Oversee the development and implementation of in store/restaurant programs, initiatives and campaigns that drive qualified traffic for incremental revenue.
• Work directly with internal partners and PR to link campaigns and relevant opportunities.
ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field (MBA in Marketing preferred)
• Generally, 10+ years’ experience in Marketing or related field preferably with a national vertical retailer
• 7+ years direct project management coordinating/managing multiple projects at the same time.
• Minimum of 5+ years working within a retail environment identifying marketing initiatives where success is measured, in part, through positive sales growth.
• 5+ years of experience working with CRM data tools and research methodology.
• 5+ years of experience working within an eCommerce-enabled website environment, developing campaigns and strategies to drive both traffic and sales.
• Superior qualitative and quantitative analytical capabilities, with an outstanding body of work demonstrating high quality, innovative deliverables and an exceptional understanding of consumer behavior.
• Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects and set priorities for a team of managers and individual contributors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage the creative and messaging process.
• Ability to manage and lead large cross functional teams as well as direct report relationships.
• Strategic thinking combined with strict attention to tactical details and execution.
• A keen knowledge of innovative direct marketing techniques and approaches using industry best practices, including emerging channels like social media and mobile.
• Excellent written and oral communication, analytical and strategic thinking skills. Includes ability to write copy.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in making decisions.
• Ability to solve problems and to keep internal partners informed and to ensure partners are prepared for marketing initiatives.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Monitor ongoing campaign spend against budget and keep accurate records highlighting variances and making recommendations for adjustments.
