Overview
The Studio Operations Director is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Studio Ops team with concentrated focus on ensuring optimal staff/studio/talent resource scheduling, allocation and utilization, cost and operational effectiveness and efficiency, as well as execution and delivery excellence of Tory Burch digital assets across a growing and diverse set of predominantly digital workflows and services. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the Studio Ops team (full-time, freelancers, & studios) operate as a well-organized, world-class digital media services operation committed to elevating the brand, measuring results and continuous process improvement. This role balances both art and commerce and we strive for excellence in all Product Detail Photography, Video and still life editorial photos.
Responsibilities
• Enable and Oversee Reliable Best-In-Class Global Photo Studio Production and Retouching Operation.
• Build out a new Studio operation in a new location with the right equipment to support the business.
• Establish and maintain key relationships with talent and external partners to ensure the team stays on top of industry trends and best in class talent and technologies.
• Manage and inspire the team of full-time and freelance producers, digital technicians and re-touchers to be fully engaged motivated, and committed to performing at their highest potentials. Ensure that seasonal shot lists are completed on-time, on-budget, with proper quality controls, and that the group’s customers are being adequately serviced.
• Continually QA and asses the site and product grids to ensure product shots and videos are consistent in terms of quality, scale and specification.
• Address and proactively communicate issues associated with any of the group’s outstanding work tasks for seasonal shoots and develop and document standard operating procedures. Balance throughput, resources, and schedules to achieve optimal performance, identify and actively manage bottle-neck resources across the creative workflows.
• Actively create and review reports through each phase of the process from planning through execution providing visibility to priorities and status to Tory Burch Ecommerce, Marketing and Creative leadership.
• Provide Active Coaching, feedback and training to the studio operations staff as well as create an environment for feedback from the teams and the ability for them to directly provide ideas and opportunities for workflow, operations or client servicing improvements. In addition, create ongoing training and review of current operational procedures and engage team in design and honing of new and existing workflows.
• Provide continual skills enhancement training on photography and media technology within the facility as well as training on skills related to project tracking, management, review and approval and technical background. Seek experts from both within the company and the industry to engage in studio training.
• Work directly with Tory Burch Talent partners to establish framework for providing coaching and feedback to associates and maintain an ongoing way to evaluate progress of staff with regard to their effectiveness, efficiency and skills.
Qualifications
• BA & +10 years’ experience in a professional capacity in related areas of expertise (e.g., post production or studio facility technical operations with deep knowledge of fashion/apparel, digital media tools, techniques and services within the media and entertainment industry)
• Experience in managing freelance and studio staff, facilities and studio operations with deep knowledge and experience in best practices for rapid delivery of ecommerce assets.
• Experience in management modeling agencies for global fashion brands
• Knowledge of past, current and next generation industry approaches to production, video and post-production, digital asset management.
• Up-to-date technical knowledge in photography, post production, digital media tools and technologies
• Ability to anticipate and respond to creative team requirements in a pro-active, timely, cooperative and thorough manner
• Experience balancing creative needs with business strategy and fiscal responsibility
• Exhibit superior verbal and written communication skills
• Superior ability to work with creative and ecommerce teams to communicate operational needs and seek input, advice and support
• Able to gain consensus among several stakeholders across a large organization
• Possess excellent analytical skills and strong focus on business results and operational efficiency
• Able to honestly assess organization’s strengths and weaknesses on a regular basis, and develop strategies accordingly
• Able to articulate clear vision and goals, and identify strategies and initiatives to achieve those goals
• Experience using metrics to measure performance and identify areas for operational improvement
• Able to set both long term strategic and short term tactical goals for the organization
• Able to proactively identify potential human resources and participate in the creation and continuous development of required skills and knowledge with the ecommerce and DO team
