FUNCTION
Assist with the development of seasonal merchandise strategies for the assigned business category. Provide organizational support and leverage prioritization and influencing skills to support day-to-day activities of the Merchant team
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES (Note: Other duties may be assigned)

• Demonstrate knowledge of the Vera Bradley customer and lifestyle attributes through making recommendations that support the business trend and participating in meeting communications.
• Assist with the development and delivery of seasonal category business plans that meet or exceed revenue and margin goals while maintaining an elevated Vera Bradley aesthetic
• Assist other POD members to deliver accurate and comprehensive weekly, monthly and seasonal analyses of business and ensure future assortments are planned strategically and holistically to maximize opportunities
• Own all aspects of one business category with Manager’s leadership. Includes assortment and promotional analysis and planning, leading line reviews, etc.
• Make recommendations on life cycle of products in categories of responsibility.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of FLEX and marketing products used for selling: Sourcebook, key Account book, catalogs, etc.
• Input and accurately maintain Merchandising-owned fields in FLEX PLM tool.
• Support team by completing reports, prepare for presentations and meetings; review and understand all information to ensure accuracy
• Prepare, set and clean up product samples and CADS for presentations.
• Order and manage seasonal sample inventory for Merchant POD,
• Complete market research by gathering data, including pricing, competitive photos and other information as needed. Attend competitive and trend shopping trips as a learning experience while maintaining documentation of information and results.
• Prepare materials, take notes, create recaps and communicate information to cross-functional teams.
• Communicate assortment changes, drops and adds cross-functionally for Merchant POD.
• Create, update and communicate detail changes to marketing tools that are used by sales teams.
• Assist with other Merchandising team projects as needed
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High School graduate required, bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred
• 2+ years merchandising, assortment planning or related experience required

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate with all levels across the organization
• Ability to build and maintain good rapport with both internal and external customers and handle situations with confidence and tact
• Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and concurrently manage multiple projects
• Flexible, adaptable with a demonstrated ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines in a fast paced enviroment.
• Resourceful with ability to make decisions and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Understands key business drivers and uses this knowledge in own work
• High level of attention to detail with strong follow through skills
• Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office software; advanced Excel skills. Knowledge of SAP and PLM a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to solve a range of problems and analyze solutions
• Strong negotiation and presentation skills
• Strong PC skills including Word and Power Point advanced Excel required.
• Working knowledge of Flex PLM preferred
• Good analytical and math skills
