Description
The Director of Global and NA Visual Merchandising Production will be involved in various aspects of visual merchandising from the initial concept design development to execution. Collaboration with the VM and Store Design teams is a must in order to implement and execute design solutions, maintain and control the style and standards of EL Visual Merchandising seasonal programs, events and testers. Ensure that typographic consistency, style guides and VM planograms for permanent retail fixtures, backwalls and various tester units are maintained and cascaded with clear direction to our regional design offices. Champion and ensure global consistency by building strong relationships with our global team members. Additional responsibilities will include the creation of DTO (2D technical design intent drawing) for our seasonal testers. All Visual Merchandising team members will be responsible to present their work to internal, external teams and senior management
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Create clear style and VM guidelines, generate DTO drawings and produce production visual assets for various seasonal product launch testers, events and lightboxes.
• Execute design solutions for Estee Lauder collaborations such as Victoria Beckham and AERIN. The approval process with all such collaborations requires strong management skills and the ability to work seamlessly with others outside of the organization.
• Partner with the Global Store Design team to ensure an outstanding, cohesive, always evolving Estee Lauder instore environment. There will be a specific focus on fixtures and tester systems for our Free Standing Store and Flagship Store Program.
• Maintain awareness of trends, styles, materials and technology relative to the competition. Provide learnings to Global Merchandising Team and Global Store Design.
• Actively participate at meetings and be able to expedite programs.
• Collaborate with Creative, Event, Copy, Digital and Marketing teams on a regular basis to ensure consistency in messaging to our customers across various channels of distribution (FSS, DS and MSP).
Qualifications
• College/Art School Degree required, B.F.A preferred
• 8+years experience working in a Macintosh based production department including significant electronic pre-press graphic and VM knowledge
• Prior experience as a production designer in a fast-paced, high pressure creative environment. Cosmetic industry experience a plus
• Position requires outstanding leadership and project management skills.
• Position requires strong presentation skills, ability to personally organize, prioritize and manage free-lancers as needed
• Ability to manage a successful initiation and execution of numerous projects simultaneously.
• Position requires awareness of Social/Digital platforms and ability to design merchandising concepts that activate social/digital experience in-store and can also be cascaded across social media platforms.
• Knowledge of retail trends and environments
• Proficiency utilizing MAC Systems platforms
• Proficiency in Adobe Cloud programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop)
• Knowledge of VectorWorks (2D/3D software) a plus, but can be learned on job for DTO/VM requirements
• Must work well under pressure with tight deadlines and balance priorities with a minimum supervision.
