Retail Allocation Analyst: Become the Newest Member to the Vans Family
Be ready to take part in the ever-changing retail industry in executing your vision to drive sales for our retail business. As the Retail Allocation Analyst, you will analyze the allocation of merchandise and collaborate with the Merchant and Planning teams to identify and implement allocation strategies in U.S. and International retail stores of both full price and outlet concepts. We welcome individuals who will be strong team players in supporting the decision making of the Retail Division, which include the creation and analysis of ad hoc and standardized reporting. Among this, you must be willing to prioritize multiple projects at once including frequently monitor the performance of assigned classifications to ensure inventory levels, assortments, quantities and size are appropriate to achieve the company’s sales and profitability objectives. How You Will Move the Needle:
• Develop and execute merchandise allocation strategies in analyzing reports and making independent decisions that support merchandise financial plans, inventory turn objectives, regional variances and store attributes for assigned departments. (30%)
• Track classification/style performance weekly and adjust allocation strategy to maximize sales opportunities and minimize markdown liability. Create and analyze ad-hoc reporting as needed to drive allocation/business decisions. (15%)
• Collaborate with DC and Retail System Analyst to trouble shoot and resolve allocation issues in a timely manner and provide weekly allocation quantities to DC with workload targets. (5%)
• Oversee density of exception stores, develop allocation strategies and consolidate the balance of full price and outlet stores inventory in partnership with Allocation Manager and Merchant partners. (10%)
• Build appropriate assortments and inventory levels for new, remodel, and relocation stores to meet goals for opening plan. (10%)
• Create replenishment metric for Basic/Never Outs styles, and analyze results weekly and recommend needed adjustments. (10%)
• Review and evaluate performance of size selling and make recommendations to Manager of Allocation and Merchants. (5%)
• Regularly visit stores to understand impact of visual guideline, product density and in store business trends. (5%)
• Analyze assortment plans with the merchant team to ensure their vision is aligned with allocation needs. (5%)
• End of Season Business Review: (5%)
◦ Review store performance vs. allocation plan
◦ Analyze performance of seasonal products to identify opportunities and risk.
Desired Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: Minimum 2-4 years prior experience in Retail Allocation
Educational/Position Requirements:
• Proven experience in allocation and replenishment processes
• Bachelor’s Degree (BA) or equivalent from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• In-depth knowledge of store allocation philosophies and methodology
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced strong computer skills to include Excel, Email and other relevant Retail applications (experience with Island Pacific and JDA Allocation a plus).
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
• Willing and able to work additional hours when needed.
Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items varying in weight from 1 to 25 lbs, depending on need.
