The Strategy and Data Labs team has three key platforms of focus across Tapestry brands.
• First, supporting our brands on their strategic priorities with consumer insights and competitive trends – and supporting the Long Range Planning process
• Second, with data labs creating a deep customer understanding and leveraging data to drive business actions
• And third M&A strategy and support including due diligence and integration
The team’s mission is to provide new perspectives – that are data driven, through a consumer lens, and innovative- to enable a shared understanding about our business and consumer to ultimately fuel Tapestry’s growth on top line and bottom line.
The successful individual will have both an immediate role as part of the Kate Spade Integration office, as well as a key role in managing future M&A activities for Tapestry.
1. As part of the current Kate Spade Integration effort: Manage the current integration as part of the Integration Management Office (IMO)
• Facilitate the key priorities with the executive committee to define the agenda for the steering committee meetings
• Track and report on our progress on synergy capture and integration costs
• Resolve key risks and roadblocks in integration
• Facilitate Board discussions and cross functional working groups
2. For broader M&A agenda and future acquisitions:
• Partner with Finance team in due diligence for potential future brands
• Help create a portfolio strategy for future evaluations
• Integrate potential future candidates into the Tapestry portfolio
The accomplished individual will possess...
• Substantial experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm – having served as a key engagement manager and as a main client interface in projects
• Ideally – financial acumen with analyzing and evaluating potential future acquisition candidates (either as part of an Investment Bank or Private Equity firm)
• Experience with Mergers and Acquisitions– both as part of the due diligence process and / or for integration
• Industry experience in retail, consumer products, apparel, or other consumer-focused industries is strongly preferred
• Track record with managing large projects, aligning on timelines, and executing towards goals is a must
• Experience working across many functional areas of a company. Can successfully relate to and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization and can collaborate with various backgrounds and styles.
An outstanding professional will have...
• An individual who maintains the highest performance standard
• 10-12 years of total relevant work experience including at least 4-6 years as a consultant with a top tier consulting firm with a retail, consumer and international focus.
• In addition, background in Mergers and Acquisition and financial due diligence for potential acquisition targets is highly desired
• A confident self-starter and self-manager, who can work independently and is willing to "roll up his/her sleeves"
• Able to withstand high pressure in the most senior executive settings – and able to present new ideas and perspectives with poise
• Highly collaborative team player, who is prepared to jump into the fray with ideas and inspire others with a vision
• Displays authenticity, flexibility and agility to adapt to a chancing business and corporate environment
• A consummate professional, with superior communication and influencing skills, who can lead and develop a junior team
• An MBA or other related advanced degree is required.
