Boy’s Apparel & Accessories Designer: Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family
Design creatively in your own style. As the Boy’s Apparel & Accessories Designer, you will manage the design process of Vans Boy’s Apparel & Accessories including conceptual direction, trends, fabrications, styling, trim, color and technical renderings/spec sheets.
We value our designers. You will design and develop styles for Boy’s, from the initial concepts to pre-production to achieve accurate delivery while establishing superior fits and construction. This role requires an individual who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, and demonstrates strong abilities to assort a best in class Apparel & Accessories range for Boy’s. This role is also a global position, your designs will serve not only our domestic consumers, but also reach our growing, international markets as well. How You Will Move the Needle:
Conduct market research and create seasonal inspiration boards for our creative designs. (10%)
Manage all design details including rough sketches, creation of tech packs, material selection and color and styling details. Must apply knowledge of cost components and design products to hit margin targets. Create visual presentations through computer design including sketches, graphics, print artwork, multiple colorways and storyboards and follow up with all design details. (60%)
Responsible for presentation of designs at line reviews and key account meetings. (5%)
Oversee the fitting of garments and review product details to ensure product execution meets the design aesthetic as well as commercially acceptable quality standards. Review details on prototypes with developer and merchandiser and share responsibility with development and merchandiser for final product result. (15%)
Demonstrate strong teamwork skills through cooperating with cross-functional team members. Establish strong communication with other management staff, employees and others with whom the company conducts business. Facilitate multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment as challenging projects are a given. (5%)

Desired Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 4-6 years
Educational/Position Requirements:
• Associate/Bachelor Degree in related field performance
• Pattern rendering experience is a plus
• Proficient in computer design programs (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, procedures and other business practices, guidelines and documents.
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
• Up to 25% travel
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally
• Bend, lift and move product up to 25 pounds
