Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Director Of Sourcing
POSITION PURPOSE:
Manages all activities associated with establishing production and ensures that actual production meets scheduled requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Plan and monitor production deliveries, plus review and track vendor performance, taking corrective action when needed.
1) Assist in planning and building each month of every seasons production timeline calendar, based on the companies target in warehouse dates and the type of product being produced.
2) Make all vendors accountable for the planned ship dates by confirming their time and action report prior to placing production, documentation agreed ship dates before and after P.O.'s have been issued, advise the vendor of possible monetary repercussions that would ensure if the agreed ship dates are not met.
3) Provide weekly shipping reports based on daily communications, weekly PSR reports and special request made by vendors, or from Guess Sales, Retail, Merchandising, and special accounts.
4) Oversee updating of WIP tracking, validating dates are correct.
Guide the development process to ensure production can be made as it was sampled and sold.
1) Contact new sources for design to develop with , ensuring success of he sampling process.
2) Help oversee the sampling process by identifying possible problems of issues and help to resolve it quickly
Deliver consistent 1st quality product by overseeing every aspect and detail on each style produced:
1) Checks bulk fabrics approved by the fabric dept for quality and color, before production is cut, and then again before shipped.
2) Oversees and approves any/all embellishments for each sku produced. Including the raw materials used for each technique and method of application.
3) Approves trim qualities in conjunction with Trim dept.
4) Oversees receipt and approvals of Pre-Production and shipment samples.
5) Attends daily fittings, if available.
6) review production tech packages and approvals against what was sold based on the sales samples.
Margins - achieve and maintain the best possible margin for every style or program, in turn meeting the companies target margin
1) Negotiate the best price possible with the developing package agent/vendor, or assist in counter-souring the program elsewhere.
2) Breakdown the manufacturing cost for every style developed and produced.
3) Maintain cost-logs, which keep and updated recap of every style developed per season, per division, per delivery month.
Build vendor relationships as partnerships, in turn helping to provide a better service to Design, Sales/Retail, Merchandising , and eventually our customer.
1) Agree to develop product that you and the vendor are comfortable developing together based on their capabilities, and the type of product need in which we are trying to fill.
2) Give the vendor Guess standards as well as the legal guide lines all manufactures must follow in order to produce for Guess.
3) Work as a partner in daily business communications. Support the vendor through production problems, or tough and challenging programs that require extra effort from both sides. Work together as a team in solving issues and addressing concerns. Build trust and open lines of communication.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 8+ Years
