Description
Based in Memphis, TN the Director, DC transportation is a key operational and thought leader for Nike’s North America Transportation & Trade team. You are responsible for inbound and outbound transportation for Nike’s Distribution Centers, a critical part of our dynamic and rapidly growing NA supply chain. You will lead and develop a team of Transportation professionals across multiple locations in all aspects of transportation operations supporting the DCs, including both operations and administration (freight payment and claims management, vendor management). This role will work closely with cross-functional internal partners and external suppliers (LSPs, Carriers, 3PLs) to deliver our operational objectives and longer term strategies. You and your team will support multiple businesses and customers for Nike including wholesale, digital (Nike.com), and Nike retail stores. This role serves as the North America leader for global RFPs in Truckload, LTL, and Small Parcel freight and will partner with NA stakeholders and Nike Global teams (Global Logistics Infrastructure and Global Procurement) to develop requirements, formulate strategies, and select suppliers/service providers. As key member of the Memphis leadership team, you will partner with DC Operations and support functions to drive operational excellence and build a winning culture with “One Team” focus across our DCs.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience. In lieu of a degree an additional 2 years of experience is acceptable.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are critical for this role
• Experience working across all levels, from front line associates to senior level leaders.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and team-based environment
• Experience driving performance through metrics and use data to drive continuous process improvement.
• Experience being accountable for cost, quality, and service performance and for making decisions when trade-offs are required.
