Product Development Coordinator - Splendid/Ella Moss
Position Summary: Coordinates and strategically executes the development of all products including sourcing, costing, calendar management, production specifications, vendor communications and PLM.
Key Responsibilities:
Calendar (PD) Responsible for managing and meeting all PD calendar target dates: concept and sketch brush through, pre costing (1st & 2nd), dupes due, costing finalization & final brush through, push over to pre-pro (PLM) and any new calendar steps that may be implemented based on business needs. Reports against all dates.
Compliance: Partners with the Compliance Manager (Product Stewardship) to ensure all concepts, treatments, raw materials, construction and finished products meet the VFC RSL, Product Safety guidelines and Quality Control Manual. Responsible for providing new vendor contact information, requesting set-up in FC and development samples for testing.
Sourcing: Sources based on business needs in partnership with design and PD RM buying team. Responsible for obtaining all TSS (fabric, trim, treatments ect), requesting RM codes & FC set-up and handing off to Costing /Pre-Production departments for pre-costing, costing finalization and production ordering by calendar due dates. Partners with PD Import Manager to counter source qualities and material developments. Partners with Pre-Production to identify red flag materials, set minimums, confirm surcharges ect. (prior to pre-costing & BT) Responsible for obtaining final approvals from design on all fabrics, trims, treatments and lab dips by calendar due date.
Costing: Partners with merchandising to achieve corporate target margins for all applicable categories while providing customer and consumer value ensuring the highest IMU in line with design aesthetics. Assists in reviewing product to ensure continued improvement in product price, quality and deliveries. Works with Design, Costing and Production to ensure product is executable and according to construction and cost requirements. Responsible for raising potential issues early in the process linked to cost, construction, quality and delivery. Resolves daily issues linked to developments; reports all issues in a timely manner to PD Manager.

e) Negotiates & counter sources materials & trims
f) Ensures garments are serviceable and of high quality, salable, producible and profitable.
Allocation: Partners with PD Import Manager and production to strategically plan factory and raw material development/allocation. Responsible for clearly communicating and handing off all import information for correct costing/BOM setup by calendar due dates. Facilitates communication between development, factory and material suppliers to maintain timeline surrounding the product creation cycle.
Sampling: Responsible for clearly communicating sampling requirements to the Dupes Dept by calendar due dates. Includes requesting and handing off marker & sew-by sample, vendor information, fabric status, special needs and requirements etc (color distro & formulas, color roll, color card templates outs in partnership with design)
Product Life Maintenance: Sets up all styles in FC and updates as needed (TBD color) Responsible for clearly handing off all information needed to build BOM’s to the PLM coordinator by calendar due dates. (Includes auditing for SCF with design) Oversees the building and maintenance of all T/P. Effectively acts as a liaison between design and production. Where required, sits in on fittings. Communicates all updates to internal teams. Responsible for providing all info to the NAFTA team each season.
Sits in and participates in all design/merchandizing meetings (concept, 1st& 2nd review, adoption, best sellers, loose ends ect). Organizes meetings and TB’s with all other key area teams as needed. Responsible for production hand off meetings and production binders.
Ensures that there is full understanding of the development process throughout the team and across the other key areas (design, merchandizing, costing, production and operations)
Facilitates the search and acquisition of applications, techniques and ideas that innovate product.
Establishes control-related standards and procedures from design inception to sample delivery.
Tracks and reports against line and sku plans as well as overdevelopment.
Additional projects as needed.
Skills:
Understands the importance of consistency in our product image.
Product development experience including understanding of materials, garment construction, fittings, costing details and domestic manufacturing methods.
Ability to understand, assess and problem solve by leveraging technical and analytical skills.
Purchasing experience - Receiving sample fabric and trim, following up with vendors and tracking orders as well constant delivery follow up.
Strong teamwork orientation and entrepreneurial spirit.

Key Requirements:
• Years of Related Professional Experience: 2 BS/BA in related field of study
• Excellent computer skills ( Excel, Word, Full Circle) Strong knowledge of apparel construction, materials, and manufacturing methods
