Position Overview:
The Merchandising Planner will be responsible for optimizing item level order quantities and assortment for E-commerce at UNIQLO leveraging historical data, your knowledge of our merchandising strategies, and your trend forecasting skills to drive growth for the UNQLO USA E-Commerce site. The Merchandise Planner is heavily focused on the assortment with a main responsibility to generate the assortment architecture for a given area and create a seasonal buy plan by item by region.
Job Description:
• Build financial sales, gross margin and inventory plans at a weekly level on a seasonal basis
• Generate recommended order quantities for all replenishment candidates based on historical selling, seasonal trends, category level merchandising strategies and inventory objectives
• Reforecast business in-season based on current performance, present revised projections and recommendations to cross functional partners and senior leadership
• Analyze actual product performance and recommend next actions surrounding replenishment, markdowns, and length of life
• Create allocation strategies, incorporating the merchandise plan and flow strategy to meet e-commerce inventory needs
• Review, analyze and adjust allocation plans incorporating sales trends
• Create and plan product assortments (item, color, size) for each product category
• Manage replenishment plans to ensure that sales are optimized and there are no missing skus
• Place orders for both seasonal and replenishment product buys
• Serve as a cross-functional partner supporting efforts of the Digital Marketing and Site Merchandising teams.
• Interact with business leaders to support global initiatives to grow the business.
• Partner with customer service center to ensure quick resolution of any product issues and ensuring that customer service is up to speed with business needs.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Merchandising/Retail, Finance, or similar.
• 3-5 year of experience in merchandising, planning or allocation capacity.
• High level of experience and proficiency in Excel.
• Ability to objectively interpret historical sales and inventory data and to extract meaningful themes that advise future business strategies
• Proficiency in other Microsoft Office products – Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Demandware knowledge a plus.
• Basic understanding of Retail Math (sales, gross margin, GMROI, WOH)
• Excellent analytical and mathematical proficiency with strong business and financial analysis skills.
• Strong communication and problem solving skills. Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities.
