PRIMARY FUNCTION:
A critical role in Asia Pacific Design Center (APDC), the selected candidate will be tasked to lead, contribute and support all Project Management initiatives in the areas of retail store design, construction and visual merchandising in Asia Pacific. This role is responsible for the ownership and optimization of current project management process and systems to accurately measure current go-to-market execution and to chart continual improvement.
Selected candidate must have the ability to successfully navigate a multi-disciplinary environment in the areas of design, construction, finance, procurement and vendor management. Bridging all functions and external vendors, to drive cost optimization to effectively deliver store design & visual merchandising projects on time, cost and quality.
In this role, the candidate must collaborate closely with and support APDC, Regional IP, and Affiliate Design Centers (China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand). In the smaller markets where there are no Design Centers such as SEA, HK and Taiwan, a direct operational project management approach is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop strategic action plans on project management and clear frameworks of the strategic priorities.
• Provide clear direction and forward momentum to meet future business needs.
• Communicates clearly to stakeholders regarding the strategic action plans for effective allocation of resources and how they align with the overall vision and strategy.
• Lead and develop project team to deliver and achieve goals.
• Define business requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs) for all projects.
• Monitor post launch of projects and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
• Create objective analysis and presentations that articulate actionable recommendations.
• Identify barriers, resolve issues and escalate issues appropriately to stakeholders and/or related personnel.
• Oversee and be accountable for the entire end-to-end process from taking designs to development, engineering, indirect procurement (IP), vendors, production and packing & shipping to counters, ensuring that all is delivered on time, cost and quality.
• Recommends ambitious yet realistic plans and budgets while conducting activities in accordance with approved plans and budgets.
• Provide technical expertise to relevant stakeholders in the implementation of design to achieve cost optimization.
• Drive for the maintenance of smooth and cost efficient methods of shipment for Regional & Global production.
• Ensure vendors’ provision of deliverables are on time, within budget and scope and with required quality for assigned projects.
• Recommend best construction methods to vendors when necessary to improve effectiveness.
• Communicate with vendors on production requirements and provide feedback on materials, production and execution processes.
• Conduct regular quality control and checks on collaterals and products.
• Maintains appropriate communications within and between various stakeholders, ensuring alignment and execution of Brand’s priorities.
• Ensure effective cross-functional teamwork among project managers and teams to achieve objectives and goals in-line with Regional and/or Global requirements.
• Stand in as advisory to designers, developers and vendors and coach them as necessary.
• Partner with Project Managers to ensure consistency and high visual standards of stores at all times.
QUALIFICATION:
• BA/BS degree in Engineering or Project Management or equivalent work experience, Masters is preferred.
• 8 years of relevant experience with retail merchandising or related field experience preferred.
• Must possess strong engineering skills.
• Highly proficient in drawing and reading technical drawings.
• Possess knowledge in SAP.
• Self-starter with excellent project management, organizational and follow up skills.
• Proven track record prioritizing activities while demonstrating speed in order to change course when required and to lead others to follow suit.
• Demonstrates strong strategic thinking, learning agility and flexibility in approach as business needs require.
• Creative thinker and multi-tasker with impeccable attention to detail.
• Displays excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work with senior leaders as well as to develop strong partnership with peers.
• Kept abreast on current fashion/retail trends.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (i.e. Excel, Words, PowerPoint) and Project Management tools.
• Demonstrates ability to lead initiatives through implementation and manage time effectively in a growing environment.
