Director – Financial Planning and Forecasting (Vans):

Vans is more than just any ordinary action sports footwear company. As the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, you will be responsible for the preparation of annual financial planning and for monitoring actual performance against plan and adjusting forecast based on trend and input from senior management. You will communicate plan and forecasts to senior management of Vans, the Outdoor Coalition and VF. In addition, you will analyze revenue and expense performance against planned and historical metrics and be responsible for development of five-year financial plan and ad-hoc financial modeling for special projects. Along with these responsibilities, you will establish control-related standards and procedures.
How You Will Move the Needle:
• Develops and presents annual consolidated budget to Senior VF Management with Vans' Chief Financial Officer.
• Prepares monthly financial package including financial statements and detailed analysis for all business segments including retail, wholesale and international.
• Utilizes historical sales information and other current market/business trends to revise the monthly forecast with detailed explanation of variances to prior forecast and plan.
• Develops annual 5-year financial plan, for all business segments, working closely with Senior Management including Vans' President.
• Constructs financial models to evaluate potential business ventures, acquisitions and other ad-hoc analyses.
• Prepares various analysis for VF corporate headquarters and responds to inquiries regarding Vans' financial information and reporting.
• Manages inventory planning & reporting.
• Evaluates business proposals and strategic initiatives. Establishes scorecards to measure performance.
• Interfaces with regional finance teams to provide global view of financials.
• Manage a team of 3 individuals.
• Manage wholesale business and all non-retail expenses.
Skills for Success:
Years of Related Professional Experience: 7+ years in related field and level
Educational/ Position Requirements:
• CPA and/ or MBA (prefer MBA)
Skills:
• Ability to understand relationships between P&L activities with balance sheet and cash flow
• Strong ability to communicate with senior level management
• Strategic thinking and thought leadership
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to influence without authority
• Analytical mindset with ability to solve difficult problems (element of creativity with this)
• Strong Excel skills
• Strong understanding of financial statements and US GAAP
• Story telling & presentation skills
• Experience managing areas outside of US is helpful but not required
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
• Some travel required
