Role Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Digital Experience, the Business Analyst is responsible for interpreting the needs of the business through the detailed review of requirements, translating and documenting these needs into business requirements, process map applications, and operational and integration requirements. In addition, the Analyst will be called upon to assist in the design, writing and execution of test plans and detailed test cases in order to ensure requirements and design specifications are met. As required, the Analyst may also assume project management duties on specific initiatives of varying scope and size.
As part of the project team responsible for the implementation of the Customer Experience suite of applications, the Business Analyst will have the following core responsibilities:
Main Responsibilities:
• Ensure in-depth understanding of core business processes and functions in terms of both the current state and required future state;
• Analyze applications and workflows and recommend improvements to existing business processes to leverage the benefits of new solutions that are being implemented as part of the customer experience program;
• Elicit and understand business needs to define application, functional and integration requirements;
• Perform documentation of requirements (functional and technical elements as required);
• Understand integration and interface handshakes;
• Identify and document gaps between current and future state business processes;
• Leverage business process and/or technical expertise to define and document required solutions to the identified gaps;
• Support business users and other project team members by ensuring that the applications and solutions are fully understood;
• Identify opportunities to improve project quality and implementation efficiency;
• Assist in developing application, business process and technical training for end users; support business super-users in testing activities and in performing the training programs;
• Provide training and guidance to customer support teams during the deployment phases of the project to ensure support staff are well trained on application elements, corporate policies and troubleshooting aspects;
• Lead the design, preparation and execution of test plans;
• Develop and write test plans as well as detailed test cases derived from requirements and specifications;
• Conduct initial application alpha testing;
• Conduct interface and integration testing;
• Manage project team activities and provide guidance to end users where they are faced with application configuration options and business process options;
• Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools;
• Manage project costs and the activities that drive costs;
• Conduct project monitoring to manage changes, related contingency plans and project execution in a timely fashion;
• Drive issue identification and resolution, and suggest alternative courses of action;
• Support deployment into production environment;
• Apply understanding of integration touch points to other job responsibilities.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Education (include professional designation)
Bachelor’s degree (Business, Commerce preferred);
CBAP certification an asset;
PMI-PBA certification an asset.
Experience
• 5-7 years of relevant retail industry experience:
◦ Experience deploying loyalty programs, store-centric mobile applications, social media integration, e-marketing, e-commerce and customer experience solutions also a key asset;
◦ Involvement as a business process stakeholder in any of the areas outlined above is also a definite asset;
• 5-7 years of business process mapping experience
• Experience with an Agile Scrum approach (mandatory);
• 3-5 years of application integration experience (system to system integration);
• Software quality assurance and testing experience.
Technical Skills
• Excellent analytical, documentation and organizational skills;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Apps (Sheets, Slides, Docs);
• High proficiency in SQL and Excel considered a definite asset;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Visio or Lucidchart;
• Proficiency in enterprise systems integration (ERP and best-of-breed integration);
• Experience with systems development life cycle phases as well as process design and procedure documentation;
• Skilled in using MS Project or other web-based project management solution (Smartsheet, Asana, etc.);
• Knowledge of BPM (Business Process Modeling);
• Understanding of hardware, networks, and relational databases.
