SUMMARY:
The primary responsibilities of the Associate Merchandiser are to assist the Merchandiser and PM in development of seasonal lines, to ensure on time execution against line plan and product strategy.
REPORTS TO: Product Manager/Sr. Merchandiser
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for product market research, creating seasonal vision boards, product designs, tech pack sketch creation, and developing new fits.
• Must have knowledge of cost components and ability to design products that hit margin targets.
• Responsible for presentation of designs during line reviews.
• Oversees the fitting of garments and reviews product details to ensure product execution meets the design aesthetic as well as the quality standards.
• Works on style and color trends with the Fabric Manager on seasonal fabric development as well as fabric innovations.
• Collaborates with the merchandiser on platforms and strategies.
• Shares responsibility with merchandiser for final product result.
• Demonstrates strong teamwork skills through cooperating with cross–functional team members.
• Adheres to development calendar dates established as a team each season.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelors in Apparel Design, Merchandising or equivalent field
• 3-5 years of experience in apparel merchandising
Qualifications:
• Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking and prioritizing is necessary.
• Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
• Proven design and conceptual skills, including strong eye for design, sense of style/trends in the world of fashion
• Knowledge of garment construction, fabrications and trims
• Effective professional communication skills (written, oral)
• Strong organizational skills
• Promotes spirit of collaboration and teamwork. Develops positive relationships with key internal and external partners.
