Senior Manager, Sports Marketing-Action Sports
Purpose:
Drive the development of the global sports marketing program for snowboarding and expansion program by providing athletic and cultural insights and ensuring strong adidas brand visibility.
Key Accountabilities:
• To develop, manage and service the adidas snowboarding & Global Sports Marketing Expansion Program
• Assist in identifying and signing the best current and next generation athletes and culturally relevant influencers in snow and other arenas, e.g. surf, bmx, music, art, etc.
• Manage all contracted and potential snowboard athletes globally
• Lead and manage a team of Team Managers globally
• Recruit new and upcoming snowboarders and evaluate current team riders with the goal of growing and evolving the program
• To service Sports Marketing assets and partners, including negotiating and maintain contracts
• Act as liaison between athletes and adidas internal departments, including product marketing, brand marketing, and design to coordinate athlete insights during product development and research
• Create cross category marketing opportunities within adidas for assets to be involved in, e.g. Women’s, training, outdoor, etc.,
• To develop and manage influencer seeding program
• Share professional knowledge and reports of the industry landscape and to improve cross functional teams’ understanding of the broader action sports landscape
• Forge relationships in the greater Action Sports landscape and adjacent cultural niches for adidas Action Sports with organizations and individuals
• Provide input into Global marketing strategy based on category objective
• Contribute to development of global athlete activation plans
• Be aware of events, trade shows and other relevant events and act as a representative of our brand at events
• Coordinate possible trips/tours for Action Sports athletes as organized by the brand
• Recommend and participate in the planning for future adidas projects;
• Work closely with the Digital Marketing and Brand Marketing teams to develop and leverage athlete and ambassador opportunities across ‘Athlete-Owned’ Social Media platforms;
• Take part in promotional appearances of adidas contracted athletes and meet and brief adidas contracted athletes for promotional appearances.
• Responsible for management of Global sports marketing budget
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of assigned sport/category and market trends
• Ability to build and maintain key industry and high profile relationships
• Ability to exercise independent judgement and decision making
• Ability to network, influence and utilize internal and external resources
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Good oral, written, and presentation communication skills
• Ability to succeed in ever-changing and complex organization with minimal daily direction
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree from a four year University
2. Minimum five years of brand and sports marketing experience within a consumer goods company
3. Experience working for an action sports company preferred
4. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for degree.
