Report to: Director, Sourcing
Overview
Manage the product development, sourcing, production control and risk assessment of specific product categories in partnership with cross-functional team members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Development
• Manage the processing of all new, seasonal product development with the vendor/agent/factory base.
• Coordinate the tracking of all presentation samples for delivery in advance of Design and/or Merchandising meetings.
• Manage preliminary costing to determine the options and restrictions related to raw materials and garment production.
• Partner with and communicate to all members of the MPR team during all phases of product development.
Sourcing
• Manage all cost negotiations to achieve or exceed IMU% goals.
• Establish and monitor factory capacities and loadings.
• Develop Chase and Envy strategies in response to business trends.
• Partner with appropriate QA/Factory Compliance functions in the selection and approval of all factories.
• Partner with and communicate to all members of the MPR team all issues related to the sourcing strategy.
Production Control
• Manage the coordination of all production phases including fit approval, fabric/yarn delivery, trim procurement, color approval, and production scheduling to maintain the established delivery to meet seasonal sales plans.
• Develop, monitor and implement seasonal time/action calendars in order to achieve required delivery.
• Manage the entry and maintenance of all Purchase Orders.
• Partner with key vendors and/or mills to secure seasonal fabric positioning to minimize liability and risk.
• Monitor and manage the delivery status from production through receipt at the DC.
Planning and Leadership
• Develop seasonal sourcing strategies in order to achieve IMU% goals, minimize risk and maximize opportunity.
• Hire, train and develop the Product Coordinator.
Required Experience:
• Bachelor’s/Associate’s degree preferred
• 5+ years sourcing/production experience in a retail or wholesale environment, including 2 years of managing direct-report associates.
• Prior experience with overseas and domestic vendors
• Proficient in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Fast paced, high energy, multi-tasking capabilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Travel requirements
• As needed to overseas markets to review current factory base and work with agents/vendors.
