Member of the management team accountable for overseeing the brand’s quality programs and chemical/ physical product safety programs, which encompass:
• Global quality performance strategy and conformance
• Customer and consumer, internal and external, quality champion
• Regulatory, safety, and legal administrator.
Liaison with VF Asia quality and global CPS teams. Manage Western Hemisphere quality audit process and communication. Provide proactive continuity in applying development and quality processes, procedures throughout the organization, production cycles and suppliers to effectively deliver the highest product quality in the industry. Establish control-related standards and procedures and ensure adherence and relevance. Manage brand product safety standards and testing protocol, ensure compliance to various regional regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Accountable for product quality for Timberland by managing Quality and Product Safety teams, processes, reporting and ensuring continuous improvement.
2. Ensure all Timberland Quality Standards are accurate, complete and up to date. Create new standards as required to manage the business and indirectly manage the incoming audit process and auditors at US based DC.
3. Oversee and provide guidance to VF Asia in the Timberland vendor qualification process. Ensure that the process is representative of Timberland’s Quality and Product Safety requirements.
4. Establish and direct, in conjunction with RD&D, a Timberland new style design conformance process. Ensure that new styles conform to Timberland’s Quality requirements. Drive root cause and corrective action for non-conforming styles. Identify changes to standards and processes that result in a stronger process.
5. Direct and provide guidance to VF Asia in the Manufactured Product Conformance Process. Identify problem vendors and ensure that Quality performance and Product Safety corrective actions are established.
6. Establish and direct all aspects of a Timberland Product Field Conformance process including quality alerts, returns disposition and processing, and recalls. Ensure that we are capturing all field-based product quality indicators and systematically using them to evaluate and design future products.
7. Responsible for reporting and managing Timberland Quality and Product Safety metrics. Develop new metrics as needed to manage the business.
8. Develop strategies to manage all critical gaps in the Timberland Quality and Product Safety architecture.
9. Oversee and ensure execution of Timberland's RSL and product safety policies in conjunction with VF Asia, update and amend as needed.
10. Develop strategies to ensure compliance with new regulations and requirements in order to mitigate product risk.
Job Requirements:
• 10+ years successful and progressive experience in a medium or large size company, 5+ in management, preferably in the soft goods and hard goods industry.
• BA or BS degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have a track record in assisting in the development of quality, procedures, implementing processes and getting things done on time.
• PC skills, including MS Word, Excel, Lotus Notes-with desired experience in implementing new processes, demonstrated team leadership skills and collaborations skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in English.
• 15% International travel to Dominican Republic and Asia.
