The primary responsibilities of the Design Drafter are to provide drafting support for the design functions within the department. Expand and maintain computer-aided drafting (CAD) files, details, and drawings for departmental projects.
Responsibilities:
• Documents machinery as requested by Design Engineer by providing assembly drawings, part details, pneumatic, electric, and logic drawings.
• Revises existing drawings to correct or update them according to change requests submitted by design engineers.
• Designs complex parts or complex assemblies for machines incorporating the best methods of manufacturing, ease of assembly, and durability.
• Selects standard commercial components for machines, giving consideration to price availability, and function.
• Provides parts list or bill of materials for assemblies to technical group purchasing department so that needed materials may be obtained.
• Draws illustrations and detail figures to be used in technical manuals.
• Purchases parts from vendors for prototype machinery.
• Designs original tooling for special equipment at the request of Merchandisers, Plant Managers, and/or Engineers.
• Assists Manager in training drafting personnel in proper methods and use of equipment. Assists other drafters in resolving problems.
Requirements:
• 2-4 years of related professional experience
• Development in reasoning, language, mathematical, and design drafting related skills ordinarily acquired by completing two years of technical college education in CAD.
Skills:
• Ability to contribute industrial construction knowledge
• Experience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other comparable 3D software packages
• Spanish speaking ability desired
Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
• Some travel required
