Freelance Designer - Paul Smith Womenswear
Based in our London office, this role is an exciting opportunity to work in close collaboration with the Senior Designer and the Design Team to develop and design the Women’s Paul Smith collection. You will be tasked with developing outstanding, market leading designs which fully meet both the seasonal brief given by the Senior Designer and the design and commercial expectations of Paul Smith Ltd.
Responsibilities:
• Initiate and collaborate on research into themes and techniques and the creation of mood boards.
• Produce designs and specifications including all follow through work, ensuring the smooth running of the collection development.
• Collaborate in fittings and sample reviews, ensuring fit, quality and production reach standards set by Paul Smith Ltd.
• Ensure all collection boards and information are kept updated and clear, through close collaboration with the Design Team.
• Follow range plans and critical paths, and to ensure all targets and deadlines are strictly adhered to.
Essential Experience and Skills Required:
• To be educated to degree level with a minimum 2.1 degree in Fashion or other related subject or equivalent practical attainment.
• Advanced computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Proven experience of all aspects of Womenswear design in a commercial environment.
• Demonstrated experience of liaising with business partners in disparate locations.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of garments, fabric construction, fittings, pattern cutting and proportions.
• Competent at completing trend research, mood boards and colour palettes for fashion collections.

• Highly systematic and well organised.
• Able to use initiative and work to set deadlines on multiple projects.
• Able to travel in the UK and internationally.
