Purpose & Scope
Responsible for supporting Global Corporate Communications team in:
• Developing and and executing communications strategies in support of the Company’s global business
strategy
• Corporate Media Relations & Financial communications: Working alongside the team responsible for
critical investor relations and managing the production of core corporate materials
• Issues and crisis communications: Developing messaging and engagement strategies to minimize risk;
ensuring creation and management of messaging as well as the development of relationships with key
outside stakeholders including think tank and academic institutions
• Digital communications: Support the design of a clear strategy to manage and enhance corporate
reputation and minimize risk via online channels and developing clear policies and practices to manage
associated risk
• Executive positioning: Supporting the development of strategies to elevate senior leadership in their
respective areas of expertise
• Close coordination with VP Employee Communications
• Proactive planning: supporting the design and development of strategic plans to tell the company’s
growth story and inoculate it from risk
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accomplished communications professional with exceptional media relations / social media capabilities and experience developing comprehensive strategies for communication.
• Help set the strategic direction of the company’s corporate reputation and media efforts, including
collaborating with senior management to secure buy-in on strategies that are aligned with business
objectives.
• Lead the identification, development, pitching and placement of business related stories in top tier
business, consumer and financial media worldwide, in print, digital and broadcast outlets.
• Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with top tier, global business, financial press
inclusive of traditional media, online/digital media, and social media.
• Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with top tier, global business, financial,
consumer technology and innovation press and other external stakeholders
• Serve as a spokesperson for RL on a broad range of subjects.
• Develop high-quality written materials that convey RL’s corporate narrative, including messaging
platforms, press releases, Q&As, speeches, editorials etc,.
• Build and maintain a strong network of business partners across all levels of the global organization
including: Investor Relations/Finance, Legal, P&D, Supply chain
• Engage with senior executives to promote industry-leading initiatives, and increase the overall positive
industry awareness for the company through executive visibility programs (including speaking
opportunities.)
• Support the early detection, identification and proper handling of opportunities or situations that may
have a direct impact on RL’s corporate reputation.
• Develop and manage internal processes to enhance global coordination and alignment of
communications activities (e.g., disclosure and media policies)
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree; Minimum 10 years public relations/communications experience
• Established media relations skills. Must have proven experience managing top-tier press for leading
brand(s)
• Strong understanding of changing media landscape
• Experience in building and managing media programs that deliver measurable results
• Experience coaching senior executives
• Conversant in media measurement and analytics
• Proven ability to think ahead, engage proactively and take initiative
• Self-starter approach to work and strong problem solver
• Strategic and execution oriented – must have the ability to deliver high quality initiatives to tight
deadlines and on budget, in a pressurized environment
• Stellar writing and editing skills – PowerPoint plan development, news releases, fact sheets, talking
points, executive briefing documents
• Excellent persuasive written and verbal communications skills, including interpersonal and presentation
skills
• Knowledge of how to develop communications strategies to bring about perception change and build
understanding of new direction
• Proven track record of managing staff and or/agency teams to achieve measurable results
