ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create prints for Signature cotton line from own original or company purchased artwork or inspiration reference
• Present original artworks and inspiration references to Design Management at the onset of each season, in accordance with the Product Development calendar
• Obtain feedback from Design Management and further develop print selection to prepare for Biometrics testing
• Collaborate with Design Management on Biometrics testing results review
• Fully develop prints selected by Design management, complete CAD artwork in AI and develop coordinating lining and border patterns. Adapt all artwork to fit printer’s repeat requirements
• Develop CAD artwork for prints on textiles and other substrates including PVC, PU and leather. Design work may include development of original patterns (coordinates to Signature line in other materials) as well as adaptation of existing print for specific products (towels, phone cases, etc.)
• Release copyrights of own artwork to Vera Bradley before sending files to printing mill
• Stay current on industry trends. Attend relevant textile color and trend shows
• Participate in proofing of files provided by textile designers for color, size, repeat and overall accuracy
• Prepare Print Design calendar and help all internal and external groups meet calendar deadlines
• Prepare specifications related to produced CAD (size, colors, placement, repeat, etc.) and communicate to appropriate vendors accordingly
• Work closely with fabric designers to provide color matching when printing artwork in house. Provide design input and support through manipulation of layout, size, color selection and position.
• Update and maintain record of all CAD designs submitted by textile designers and created in house
• Manage the request and receipt of CAD revisions from external print designers and prepare new submits for review by the Design team
• Communicate with textile designers and vendors to ensure materials prepared are issued in proper format
• Review strike-offs against artwork and comment on screen accuracy
• Provide flat sketches and illustrations of new products for line lists, technical renderings and presentation boards
• Participate in evaluation of all product line concepts along with other product development team members
• Manage operation of CAD machine and printer
• Responsible for the keeping and recording of the original artwork in archival safe boxes and the registering of the names with legal
• Provide assistance to design team by creating and updating technical sketches, as needed
• Provide creative input and suggestions for own work
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High school graduate. Bachelor’s degree in textile design, graphic design, or related field preferred
• Experience in designing, managing and manipulating print designs on textiles
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Demonstrated artistic ability to draw, sketch and illustrate
• Advanced Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop required
• Experience in the fashion industry strongly preferred
• Creative eye for color
• Superior score (>16) on Farnsworth-Munsell 100 hue test
• Knowledge of textile printing industry
• Ability to create and think outside the box
• Ability to create product specs
• Good PC and/or Mac skills utilizing Microsoft Office software
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Proactive, adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Strong team player
