The North Face: Director, Environmental Design and Brand Experience
POSITION SUMMARY
The primary responsibilities of the Environmental Design and Brand Experience Director are to manage the design and vision of the company's retail environments and assists global teams by providing TNF retail tools and processes for the rollout of stores globally. The Director supports the DTC teams in the development and design of new stores and creates a vision and template for world-class consumer experiences at retail. This person brings a track record in managing a successful implementation of visual programs to ensure a more exciting store environment which presents merchandise in a manner that provides the customer with a strong reason to buy, promotes an environment that enhances brand credibility and drives brand loyalty.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Creates a vision for the overall experience at TNF retail locations across all Territories. Establishes materials palette, and design guidelines.
• Leads the creative development of new stores and new store concepts including, but not limited to: core TNF stores, Urban Exploration Stores, Mountain Athletic stores and Women’s stores.
• Works with brand partners to lead the design and experience of owned TNF environments such as brand experiences, events and partnership spaces.
• Directs a team of experiential design managers.
• Develops and maintains operational, budgetary and staffing plan to meet requirements for the wholesale and retail channel..
• Provides overall direction for corporate experiences at trade shows, at sales meetings, and Corporate Headquarters.
• Hires, trains, and develops direct report role of Brand Experience Designer.
• Creates and manages nationally consistent visual standards for wholesale and retail stores.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
• 10+ years of progressive experience in Marketing or related field.
• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Art and Design, Business, Retail Merchandising, or related field.
• Extensive experience in visual merchandising including fixture design, development and delivery: store design and space planning.
• Experience in managing a diverse and creative group of individuals and leading change.
• Outdoor equipment experience a plus.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must have a track record in executing industry leading design while establishing procedures, implementing and executing processes.
• Proven track record for successfully developing innovative visual designs, traffic driving promotion procedures, implementing processes and getting things done on time.
• Proven record in ROI tracking and applying learnings.
• Highly organized and operationally minded.
• Excellent interpersonal communications, teamwork, and presentation skills.
• Strong project management and organizational skills with consistent attention to details.
• Excellent strategic, conceptual and decision making skills.
• Proficient writing and editing skills.
• Travel required: 25%
